Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. While the process is described in a logical sequence, the summary is underdeveloped and lacks the necessary detail to fully explain the manufacturing process. Key stages are mentioned, but there is no clear overview or introduction that highlights the main features of the diagram. The response is too brief to adequately cover all parts of the task, resulting in a fragmented summary that does not fully address the requirements of an Academic Task 1 report.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response uses some basic cohesive devices such as 'firstly', 'secondly', 'furthermore', and 'moreover' to link ideas. However, the paragraphing is non-existent, and the overall structure is disjointed. The flow of information is mechanical rather than logical, and the lack of a clear introduction or conclusion makes the text difficult to follow as a cohesive report. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the transition between the stages of the process feels abrupt due to the brevity of the sentences.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying heavily on basic terms like 'make', 'used', and 'liquid'. There is little attempt to use academic or process-specific vocabulary, such as 'extraction', 'dissolution', or 'extrusion'. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the range is insufficient for a higher band. There are also issues with word choice, such as 'cultivate by the help of farmers', which is awkward and unnatural. To improve, you should focus on using more precise verbs and nouns related to industrial processes.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The grammar is frequently inaccurate, with persistent errors in verb tense and voice. For example, 'bamboo plants were used to cultivate' is grammatically incorrect and confusing. There is an over-reliance on the passive voice, which is often used incorrectly (e.g., 'spinning method were used'). Sentence structures are simple and repetitive, with little evidence of complex sentence forms. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with spaces missing before commas and periods. These errors occur throughout the text and occasionally impede the clarity of the process description.
