IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The diagram below shows how fabric is manufactured from bamboo.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Write at least 150 words.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The diagram shows that how fabric is manufactured from bamboo. It involves the major nine steps from harvesting to fibre making to fabric production.

Initially, the bamboo plants which are used to make the fibre, grow in the summer. Farmers used to do harvesting of these plants in the autumn. Then the harvested plants are being cut in to the strips and crushing of these strips lead to pulp production. The pulp which is produced, was in liquid state and goes through the filtration process. In filtration, the long fibres are separated from the liquid.

Following this, the water and amino acids are being added to the soften fibres. By this addition, chemical reaction occur in the produced material and it turned in to the thread. The thread undergoes spinning process and make a ball like structure known as yarn.

Finally the yarn is used to make the fabric by weaving process which is used to manufacture clothes such as shirts, socks etc in industry.
