IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The diagram below shows how fabric is manufactured from bamboo.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Write at least 150 words.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The illustration shows the process of making fabric from bamboo. It explains how we can create fabric from a plant.

The bamboo plant is used to make wearable clothes and a complete process of converting raw material into the piece of clothing is described.

Firstly bamboo is planted in spring season, once it is grown enough and the crop is ready then the harvesting time is in the autumn. In the next step the complete plant of bamboo is cut into stripes. Those stripes are then crushed in order to make liquid pulp.

In the fifth step the long fibers are then separated from the liquid. Next in order to make the fiber soft we add water and amine oxide. Once it's soft enough we spin it to make a yarn. After that we weave it to make fabric and finally we can make the clothes, shirts or socks from that fabric.
