Student answer (Band 5.5)
The diagrame illustrates the various stages involved in the production of the bamboo fabric, showcasing a clear step-by-step progression .
At first glance ,it is evident that the entire process composed of nine distinct stages, begning with the plantation of bamboo plant, and culminating in prepared clothes .
To commence the process, plantation takes place during spring season , following this, they are harvested when autum reaches and are subjected to cut into strips with a rotating blade. Afterwards, liquid pulp is produced by crushing the strip .
Subsequently, filtration is performed to seprated the long fibers from the filtered liquid .
The next stage involves , addtion of water along amine oxide into the fibers so that it gets soften . Therafter fibers are spined until yarn is obtained . At the end of the process, yarn is converted into weaved pice sutailbe to make fabrics . This linear and systamatic presentation ensures the efficient production of bamboo fabric from bamboo plants

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The student covers the main stages of the bamboo manufacturing process, from the initial plantation stage down to the final prepared clothes. Key features such as harvesting in autumn, cutting into strips, producing liquid pulp, filtration, adding water and amine oxide, spinning, and weaving are all mentioned, satisfying the core requirements of Task 1. However, the response lacks a clear overall overview or summary of the main trends or steps in the introduction or a dedicated paragraph, which prevents it from reaching a higher band. While the details are generally accurate according to the diagram, the development is slightly basic and lacks deeper comparison or grouping of stages. Overall, the response addresses the prompt adequately but remains somewhat descriptive and linear.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The text demonstrates a logical sequence by following the chronological steps of the manufacturing process from start to finish. The student attempts to use various cohesive devices such as 'At first glance', 'To commence the process', 'following this', and 'Subsequently' to guide the reader through the stages. However, paragraphing is problematic; the response is broken into overly short, fragmented paragraphs, including single-sentence paragraphs like 'Subsequently, filtration is performed to seprated the long fibers from the filtered liquid .' Additionally, referencing and punctuation around cohesive markers are sometimes awkward, such as 'The next stage involves , addtion of water...', which impacts the overall flow and mechanical control of cohesion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary relevant to the diagram, such as 'plantation', 'harvested', 'rotating blade', 'liquid pulp', 'filtration', 'fibers', and 'yarn'. There are several attempts to use less common items like 'culminating', 'systematic', and 'amine oxide'. However, numerous spelling and word-form errors detract from the lexical score, including 'diagrame', 'begning', 'autum', 'seprated', 'addtion', 'spined', 'weaved', 'pice', 'sutailbe', and 'systamatic'. These errors do not completely obscure meaning, but they highlight a lack of precision and control over word choice and spelling, placing the response firmly in the band 5 range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, using temporal clauses and participial phrases such as 'following this, they are harvested when autum reaches and are subjected to cut into strips'. However, grammatical accuracy is notably weak, with frequent errors in punctuation, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions. Examples include comma splices and misplaced commas ('At first glance ,it is evident'), passive/active confusion ('subjected to cut' instead of 'subjected to being cut' or 'cut'), and faulty relative clauses ('so that it gets soften'). Punctuation is also erratic throughout the text. These frequent errors cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect limited control over complex structures.
