Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The student attempts to summarise the bamboo manufacturing process, identifying several stages such as growing, harvesting, cutting into strips, making liquid pulp, spinning, and weaving. However, the overview lacks precision and misses several key steps and details shown in the diagram, such as chemical treatment with sodium hydroxide, carbon disulphide mixing, and washing/bleaching. The response covers the task only partially and lacks a clear, comprehensive overview of the main features, which aligns this aspect of the writing with Band 5.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The text is divided into logical paragraphs, beginning with an introduction and ending with a brief concluding remark. Cohesive devices are used to signal progression, such as 'Then', 'Moreover', and 'Further looking at the process'. However, referencing and transitions are sometimes awkward or mechanical, as seen in sentences like 'A cursory glance at the process is adequate enough to shows that the process is started from when bamboo plants are grow.' The overall organization shows some progression, but the referencing is not always clear, fitting Band 5 descriptors.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with frequent word choice and collocation errors, such as 'procees', 'crush strips', 'Softene fibers are obtained with add some water', and 'spinned to make a yawn' (yarn). While the student attempts some less common terms like 'autum season' and 'amine oxide', the numerous errors in spelling and lexical form cause some difficulty for the reader and restrict the score to Band 5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response exhibits a limited range of grammatical structures, relying mostly on simple and flawed complex sentences. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('each and every step is plays vital role'), passive voice errors ('it can be seeen that the liquid is filtered and separated'), and tense inconsistencies ('plants are grow'). These frequent errors hinder readability and place the grammar at a Band 5 level.
