The diagram below shows how fabric is manufactured from bamboo.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The diagram illustrates how fabric is manufactured from bamboo.

Overall, the 9 step process starts with the bamboo plantation and ends by producing different clothing items used in our day to day life. It includes a complex chemical and industrial process where appropiate fibers play the major role in producing high quality end products.

During spring, bamboo is planted. There involves a period between the spring and the next autumn, a ceratin stage when bamboos are in desired size, shape and quality. They are then harvested and cut into different strips for the preparation of the next phase. In the fourth stage, the strips are crushed in order to prepare the required pulp, which then exists in liquid stage and contains different types of impurities. Filtration happens and eliminate the impurities and focuses on the separation of long fibers. They are added with water and amine oxide to be softened for the further chemical process.

After the removal of water, the fibres are now converted to yam by spinning machine. When industrial machines strat weaving, the yams altogether produce fabric. The fabric is then ready to be used for the production of clothings like T-shirts and so on that we purchase and use in our daily life.
