The diagram below shows how fabric is manufactured from bamboo.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The diagram illustrates the step-by-step procedure involved in making fabric from bamboo plants.

Overall, the process underwent 9 different main stages to create fabric starting with planting bamboo plants in Spring season and ending with creating different clothing products. However, It can be seen that there is little man effort involved in this procedure.

In the Spring season, farmers start planting bamboo plants in their fields. Once the autumn season arrives, the farmers start harvesting the bamboo crops. After cultivating crops, it is then cut into strips with the help of a cutter machine, which is then crushed to make a liquid pulp from the strips. At this stage, this liquid pulp is filtered in order to separate the long fibre strips from the liquid.

After this, the process of softening fibres starts by adding water and chemical such as amine oxide. In the final phase, the softened fibres are spined to convert into a yarn, which is then weaved to make fabric. In the last, the woven is used to create wearable clothing products including shirts and socks.
