The diagram below shows how fabric is manufactured from bamboo.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Write at least 150 words.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The diagram illustrates the process of manufacturing fabric out of bamboo known as bamboo fabric.

Overall, the procedure consist of several stages, it begin from planting a bamboo plant in spring season and final stage is weaving to make fabric. Most importantly it require a right time of the year from seeding a plant till harvesting.

Initially, farmers plant bamboo plants in their fields in spring season which is most significant step in the process. After that farmers have to wait till the autumn season by the time plant will be fully grown to harvest. Then the harvest bamboo is cut into strips before transporting it to a manufacturing plant.

After reaching the plant the most important manufacturing process start which is crush strips are put into a machine to make liquid pulp out of it. Then the liquid pulp is being filtered in a different machine to separate long fibres from liquid. The next step is add water and amine oxide to soften fibres before spinning to make yam because hard fibres cannot be spin. The final stage is to weave it to make fabric before supplying the material to a clothing company.
