IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The diagram below shows how fabric is manufactured from bamboo.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Write at least 150 words.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The flowchart illustrates the process of producing fabrics from bamboo.

Overall, 9 steps are involved in the manufacturing of fabrics, beginning at the planting of the bamboo plants during the spring until production of shirts and sock as the final product.

The process starts during the spring when bamboo plants are planted and are been harvested during autumn. The plants are then cut into strips by a cutter, following this the strips will be crushed and liquid pulp is produced as a result of the crushing. Subsequently, liquid pulp is filtered in a funnel to seperate long fibres from the liquid.

Furthermore, water and amine oxide is added to the liquid in order to softens the fibres. The soften fibres are spun to make yarn which would be weaved to make fabrics. The end result includes socks and shirt.
