The diagram below shows how fabric is manufactured from bamboo.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Write at least 150 words.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The given diagram illustrates the nine - stage procedure of bamboo cloth production starting from cultivation of bamboo to manufacturing of the cloth.

Overall, the process begins with plantation and harvesting of bamboo, after which it is cut into strips and crushed. Later, it is filtered and soft fibres are produced which are spun to make yarn and woven into the final products.

The bamboos are cultivated in the spring and harvested during the autumn season. The harvested bamboos are transported to the factory where they are chopped to strips and later crushed to extract liquid pulp. The pulp is then filtered out to seperate long fibres from the liquid produced. The fibres from the filterate are softened with the help of water and amine oxide, which are spun in the machine to create yarn. The yarn is utilised to weave and carft fabrics in the factory, which leads to the production of clothes like socks, T - shirts or sweaters.

This explains the entire production of bamboo fabric.
