IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The diagram below shows how fabric is manufactured from bamboo.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Write at least 150 words.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The picture illustrates a step-to-step process of the bamboo plant which is used in the production of a fabric.

Overall, bamboo plants undergoes several distinct stages to manufacture a fabric, started with cultivation and harvesting of the plants which are cut and crushed into strips, followed by filtering and softening of the fibers and finally spun and woven to fabric, which later used for clothes.

In spring, the plants are cultivated and are then harvested in autumn. The harvested plants are then cut into strips which are then crushed to made liquid pulp. The liquid is passed through the filter in which long fibers were seperated from it. The six stage showed the addition of water and amine oxide which are used to softened the fibres.

The fibers are then spun to make the yarn which are woven later to make a fabric. The fabric was used for making clothes, such as , T-shirts and socks.
