The diagram below shows how fabric is manufactured from bamboo.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The provided diagram illustrates the process of manufacturing fabric from the bamboo plant.

Overall, the process includes nine steps. Starting from planting the bamboo plant, following harvesting and cutting. Then, the crushed plant goes through the process of making yarn and, finally, weaving the yarn to produce fabric by which actual clothes are manufactured.

Firstly, the bamboo plant is planted in the spring season. In Autumn, the planted bamboo is harvested. Secondly, the harvested plant is cut into strips. In the next step, the freshly cut strips of the bamboo plant are crushed to make liquid pulp. The pulp later goes through filtration process to remove long extracts of fiber.

After filtering the liquid, water and amine oxide is added into it to make it soften and later spin it to make yarn. Eventually, the yarn is weaved to manufacture the fabric through which clothes are made that we wear.
