The diagram below shows how fabric is manufactured from bamboo.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The diagram illustrates the stages involved in the production of fabric made from bamboo, tracing the process from bamboo being planted to the final production of cloth.

Overall, the production follows a linear, multi-stage sequence, which commences from the plantation of bamboo plant, followed by harvesting and ending with weaving to make fabric. During these stages the bamboo plant is soften, filtered, crushed and woven to make different types of clothes.

In the initial stages, bamboo plant is collected from the field and filtered. During the spring season, the bamboo plant is planted, once it is fully grown, the plant is harvested. Following that, the matured plant is cut into strips, after which these strips are completely crushed to accquire liquid pulp from it, subsequently, the pulp is filtered, segragating long fibres from liquid.

The remaining stages deal with chemical process and final production of clothes. Thereafter, the mixture of water and amine oxide is added to soften the filtered long fibres. Afterwards, the softened fibres are spinned to prepare a yarn. Ultimately, the yarn is woven to make variety of clothes such as socks and sweaters.
