The diagram below shows how fabric is manufactured from bamboo.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Write at least 150 words.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The process illustrates how fabric is manufactured from bamboo.

Overall, the process consists of 9 main stages, beginning with cultivation of bamboo and ending with the manufactured goods from fabric.

At the first stage, the cultivation of bamboo starts with planting the bamboo during the spring season. Next, in the autumn season we can harvest the bamboo trees. Following this, the bamboo trees are collected in a pile and each bamboo tree were cut into strips using a cutting machine. After that, each strip of bamboo were crushed, which results in making liquid pulp.

In the next stage, using a funnel to start separating the long fibers from liquid. Subsequently, soften the fibres by adding water and amine oxide to the fibres. Next, starts spinning the fabric into yarn this is most commonly known as wool. Now, using this yarn to start weaving a product either using a machine or by hand. Finally, products such as shirts and socks are made from the woollen fabric and the process is completed.
