The diagram below shows how fabric is manufactured from bamboo.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Write at least 150 words.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The diagram illustrates the manufacturing process of fabric through bamboo.

Overall, the process is divided into 9 stages and each stage gives the bamboo a new shape eventually leading to the production of fabric. Additionally, this process also involves the use of chemicals like amine oxide for fabric manufacturing.

Firstly, the bamboo plants are planted during the spring season and after the growth they are harvested in the autumn. Afterwards, the bamboo sticks are cut into strips using a cutter, followed by the stage of crushing the strips, in order to extract liquid pulp. Later, the long fibres are seperated from the liquid through filteration.

Furthermore, water and amine oxide is added to make the fibre soft. The fibre is then spun to make yarn and the it gets weave to make fabric. Finally the fabric can be shaped in any form to create shirts, socks, and etc. This is the whole manufacturing process of producing fabric using bamboo plants as a raw material.
