Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses the overall requirements of the task by attempting to summarise the main stages of the bamboo manufacturing process, earning a stable performance at this level. The candidate manages to cover the progression from planting through harvesting, cutting, crushing, and final weaving. However, some parts of the process are described with limited clarity and development. For instance, steps such as filtering the liquid pulp and softening the fibres using amine oxide are glossed over rather than fully explained, leading to under-developed descriptions of key technical actions. While an overview is attempted, it is awkwardly phrased and lacks the precision expected at higher bands. To improve, the writer needs to select and report all key features more thoroughly without relying on vague summaries.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The text demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement, guiding the reader sequentially through the diagram from planting to final clothing production. The student makes use of basic sequencing devices, such as 'Secondly', 'After that', and 'In the last', to structure the narrative. However, the cohesion often feels mechanical and repetitive, and referencing is occasionally faulty, as seen in awkward transitions like 'Moving towards, the soften fibres is there'. Paragraphing is attempted to separate the introduction, body, and conclusion, but the division of sentences lacks smooth progression. To reach a higher level, the writer should employ a wider and more flexible range of cohesive devices and ensure that referencing and paragraph structures flow more naturally without repetitive connectors.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the basic demands of the task, but it suffers from frequent inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and word formation. The student attempts less common vocabulary items such as 'liuid pulp', 'quaility', and 'yam' (yarn), but these contain noticeable spelling and form errors that occasionally impede communication. Other expressions like 'process chat dipects' instead of 'process chart depicts' show a limited control over lexical items. Furthermore, repetitive phrasing restricts the range. To progress, the candidate must focus on accurate spelling, appropriate word forms (such as nouns versus verbs), and natural collocations relevant to process descriptions, moving away from basic or misspelled terminology.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response displays a very limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on imperative forms or faulty dependent clauses when describing steps, such as 'the first step is plant the bomboo plant' and 'crush the strips and making into liuid pulp'. There are frequent errors in verb forms, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions throughout the text. Complex structures are attempted, but they are often grammatically faulty, such as in 'weave that yam by the humans who know to weave it'. Punctuation and article usage also show persistent inaccuracies. To achieve a higher score, the writer needs to demonstrate a greater variety of complex sentence forms with improved grammatical accuracy, ensuring that verbs, infinitives, and relative clauses are constructed correctly.
