Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the main features of the bamboo manufacturing process, covering all nine steps from planting to the final wearable products. However, some parts of the process are only partially developed or lack clear precision, such as the description of the chemical and filtering stages. An overview is attempted in the second paragraph, outlining the total number of stages and the general nature of the process, but it remains somewhat limited and mechanical. To reach a higher level, the overview should more clearly synthesise the main trends or overarching phases of the process without jumping directly into granular details, and all steps should be reported with greater clarity and extension.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The text demonstrates a basic attempt at logical organisation, following the sequential flow of the diagram from step one to the end. Paragraphing is attempted, but the division of ideas is somewhat disjointed, with the introduction and overview awkwardly split or poorly integrated. Cohesive devices such as 'overall image shows', 'Althought', and 'Next' are used, but they are often mechanical, repetitive, or inaccurate in form. There is a lack of smooth transitions between sentences and paragraphs, which hinders the overall progression of information. Improving this criterion requires more sophisticated and varied cohesive links, alongside a clearer, more logical paragraph structure that groups related stages of the process together.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for a basic summary of the process, but the range is limited and frequently hindered by spelling mistakes and word choice errors. Examples such as 'illurastate', 'sevral', 'machins', 'pupl', 'sperate', and 'cloths' demonstrate frequent lexical and orthographic inaccuracies. While the writer attempts some process-related terms like 'liquid pulp', 'amine oxide', and 'spinning', these are often accompanied by awkward phrasing or incorrect word forms. To achieve a higher score, the vocabulary needs to be more precise, varied, and accurate, avoiding basic spelling slips and employing more sophisticated collocation and style appropriate for an academic report.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response employs a very limited range of sentence structures, relying primarily on simple and awkwardly constructed compound sentences. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('some stage consist', 'the bamboo plant was planted... and after that it harvest'), missing articles ('in stage first', 'with use of saw machine'), incorrect passive forms, and tense inconsistencies. These frequent errors occasionally cause difficulty for the reader and prevent the text from achieving a smooth flow. To improve, the writer needs to demonstrate better control over basic grammatical structures, improve punctuation, and incorporate accurate complex sentence patterns without frequent errors.
