Student answer (Band 5.5)
The given process diagram delliniates the procedure of formation of bamboo fabric.
Overall the manufacturing is start from plantation of bamboo and then harvesting and then cutting and formation of fabric.
First of all the bamboo is planted and take care of bamboo crop. Afterthat crop is harvested by labours and labours go some extra miles in harvesting. Furthermore bamboos are cut into strips and crush these strips into small pieces. The strips are cut to make the liquid pulp and after formation of liquid pulp it take to filters and seperate the long fibres from liquid.
Moreover, to make fibre soften add water and amide oxide. After ease fibres spin them to make the yarn. Then, these yarns are transported to different markets. Then people borrow these yarn and weave to make the fabrics. At last the clothes are ready which are formed by fabrics of bamboo. This procedure takes a long time according to given process diagram. Manufacturing this fabric is an extremely labour-intensive and intricate pr

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response presents an overview of the bamboo fabric manufacturing process, but the information is only partially addressed. While the writer attempts to trace the stages from planting to weaving, some steps are described with limited clarity and unnecessary, unsupported elaboration, such as 'labours go some extra miles in harvesting'. The overview attempted in the second sentence is rudimentary and lacks precision, and the conclusion introduces personal speculation about the duration of the process and its labour-intensity rather than summarising the main features of the visual data. Key stages such as filtering, softening, and spinning are mentioned, but their relationships and the overall progression are under-developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a coherent overall arrangement, but the progression of ideas is sometimes faulty and mechanical. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often repetitive or inaccurate, relying heavily on simple connectors like 'First of all', 'Afterthat', and 'Moreover'. The paragraphing is also problematic, as the entire text—aside from the introductory sentence—is lumped into a single dense block instead of being logically divided into distinct paragraphs representing different phases of the process. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as when pronouns or nouns like 'these yarns' and 'this procedure' are introduced without smooth transitions from the preceding steps.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is limited and just barely adequate for the task. The student attempts some less common technical items related to the process, such as 'plantation', 'liquid pulp', 'filter', 'fibres', 'yarn', and 'weave', but makes noticeable lexical errors and spelling mistakes, such as 'delliniates' instead of 'delineates', 'amide oxide' instead of 'amine oxide', and 'seperate' instead of 'separate'. Word choice and collocation are frequently awkward, as seen in phrases like 'the manufacturing is start' and 'take to filters'. These errors do not entirely impede communication, but they restrict the response to a lower band level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying predominantly on simple sentences with frequent attempts at complex or passive structures that are often faulty. There are persistent errors in verb forms, tenses, subject-verb agreement, and articles throughout the text, such as 'the manufacturing is start from', 'bamboo is planted and take care of', 'crush these strips', and 'spin them'. Punctuation is also weak, with missing commas in introductory clauses and run-on phrasing. These frequent grammatical errors cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a lack of control over complex sentence patterns.
