Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response successfully addresses all parts of the task by outlining the main stages of how bamboo fabric is manufactured, from planting to the finished product. An adequate overview is provided in the second paragraph, capturing the total number of steps and the overall span of the process. However, some stages are somewhat under-developed or lack full clarity regarding specific mechanical or chemical actions described in the diagram, such as the exact filtering and softening steps. While the key features are selected and reported, the lack of fully extended descriptions for every single step keeps the task response firmly at the designated level.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The text maintains a coherent overall arrangement and follows a logical chronological progression through the nine steps of the manufacturing process. Paragraphing is utilised to separate the introduction, overview, and body details, which helps guide the reader. Cohesive devices such as 'In the first stage', 'next', 'After this step', and 'Finally' are used to link ideas, though some referencing and transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive, such as the frequent reliance on time markers. To reach a higher band, the essay would benefit from more varied and subtle cohesive relationships between sentences and clauses.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the student to communicate the main steps of the process with some success. There are attempts to use less common items related to the diagram, such as 'liquid pulp', 'amine oxide', and 'weave', but these are accompanied by noticeable lexical errors, awkward word choices, and typos such as 'plats' instead of 'plants', 'finish product' instead of 'finished product', and 'yam' instead of 'yarn'. These inaccuracies and spelling errors do not completely impede communication, but they restrict the lexical score to an adequate level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but control over grammar and punctuation is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in verb forms, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions, such as 'all the bamboos cut into strips', 'crush that all strips', and 'prior to make a various cloths that yam weave'. Additionally, article usage is sometimes inaccurate, and punctuation errors occur within sentences. While these errors rarely completely impede understanding, they are frequent enough to demonstrate limited grammatical control and prevent the response from achieving a higher band.
