Student answer (Band 6.0)
The diagram illustrates the process by which fabric is produced from bamboo.
Overall, the process consist of nine stages, begining with plant bamboo plants in spring and ending with the ready to wear fabric.
Initially, the bamboo plants will be planted in the spring and harvested in the autumn. After that, it shall be cut into the strips and that will be crushed to make liquid pulp. Following this stage, liquid pulp will be filtered to seperate long fibres from liquid. Subsequently, longer fibres will be changed to soften fibres by the addition of water and amine oxide.
In the next stage, the soft fibres will be taken and spinned to make yarn which is the seventh stage of the process. After that, yarn will be weaved to make various kind of fabric by the personal choice. Finally, indiviual used yarn to make shirts and shocks which complete the process.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response successfully addresses all parts of the task by presenting an overview of the nine-stage manufacturing process of bamboo fabric and noting key steps and comparisons. However, the development is uneven. While most stages are reported, some details are slightly inaccurate or under-developed, such as stating that individuals make shirts and socks based on personal choice, which strays slightly from a strictly objective reporting of the visual data. The overview captures the beginning and end of the process well, but overall the selection and reporting of main features could be extended more comprehensively to achieve a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response demonstrates a clear overall progression from the initial planting stage to the final fabric production. Information and ideas are arranged coherently with adequate paragraphing used to divide the introduction, middle steps, and final stages. Cohesive devices such as 'Initially', 'After that', 'Following this stage', and 'Finally' are employed to guide the reader through the sequence, though referencing and linking can occasionally feel slightly mechanical, pointing towards the characteristics of a half-band achievement that fully satisfies the lower tier while showing partial control of more sophisticated organizational techniques.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
An adequate range of vocabulary is used to complete the task, featuring appropriate process-related terms like 'liquid pulp', 'fibres', 'yarn', and 'fabric'. The writer attempts less-common vocabulary items such as 'amine oxide' and 'indiviual', though some errors in word choice, form, and spelling occur—for example, 'seperate', 'weaved', 'kind' instead of 'kinds', and 'shocks' instead of 'socks'. Fortunately, these lexical slips do not impede communication, allowing the reader to follow the descriptions without major difficulty.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at structures like passive voice ('the bamboo plants will be planted'). However, there are persistent grammatical errors throughout, including tense inconsistencies ('begining with plant bamboo'), missing articles ('cut into the strips'), and subject-verb agreement issues ('the process consist'). These errors in grammar and punctuation occur regularly but rarely impede communication, placing the grammatical performance firmly within this band.
