Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum length requirement of 150 words, coming in at only 112 words. Consequently, the coverage of the process is minimal. While the writer attempts to outline the steps shown in the diagram, the information is presented in a very brief and superficial manner. The stages are rushed, and there is no clear overall overview of the process. Several steps are either conflated or described out of logical sequence, leading to a tangential response that only partially addresses the prompt requirements.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response is written as a single, disorganised block of text without proper paragraphing. Information and ideas are not arranged coherently, and the progression of the manufacturing process is difficult to follow. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or inaccurately, such as the sudden misuse of transitional words like 'Althogh' and 'Whether', which disrupt the logical flow rather than connecting ideas smoothly. Referencing and links between sentences are weak, causing the overall arrangement to feel disjointed.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, relying heavily on words directly lifted from the prompt such as 'bamboo', 'plant', 'strips', 'fibres', and 'fabric'. There are noticeable lexical and spelling errors, including 'completd' and 'ans', along with awkward word choices like 'fabric made by bamboo plant'. These limitations and inaccuracies mean the vocabulary is only minimally adequate for the task, though the message remains just about decipherable despite the strain placed on the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The grammatical range is very limited, consisting primarily of simple or poorly constructed sentence forms. There is a frequent lack of control over basic syntax, evident in fragmented or run-on structures such as 'The first step is plant the bamboo tree' and 'when the harvesting completd then cut the pieces into strips'. Errors in verb forms, missing prepositions, and incorrect punctuation are frequent throughout the text, often distorting meaning and causing considerable difficulty for the reader.
