Write at least 150 words.
Student answer (Band 5.0)
The diagram illustrates that how cloth is manufactured from bamboo. The process is basically shows how can we make fabric from bamboo.
Firstly the bamboo plants are planted in the spring season then harvested by a man or women who works in this occupation, then the bamboo splited into strips with the help of a cutter, then it is crushed to make a liquid pulp for fabric, the filter is also provided to separate long fibres from liquid, the fibres become soft by adding wate and amine oxide in it, then it spinned to make a yam which looked like a football and then it weaved to make fabric of high quality and at the end the fabric is made from the liquid of bamboo.
Basically, it is just an overview on the process of making fabric by bamboo and the process is just like that. But now thee technology is so advanced the high quality fabric is made in them by liquid of bamboo.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
The response addresses the task only partially, presenting a rudimentary overview of the bamboo manufacturing process. While the student attempts to follow the sequence from planting to fabric production, the coverage of the main stages is limited and lacks a clear, structured overview. Several details are vague or imprecise, such as mentioning that the bamboo is harvested by 'a man or women who works in this occupation' rather than focusing strictly on the objective features of the visual data. The summary of steps lacks precision, and the final paragraph drifts into extraneous commentary about modern technology rather than sticking strictly to the information presented in the diagram.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some organisation evident in the chronological layout of the response, but the text lacks a clear overall progression. The writing relies heavily on a run-on sentence structure dominated by repetitive commas rather than proper punctuation or varied cohesive devices. Phrases like 'Firstly', 'then', and 'at the end' are used mechanically to link clauses, and the lack of proper paragraphing until the final brief concluding comment means the information is presented as a single, breathless block of text. Referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly with pronoun usage and dangling clauses.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The lexical range is limited and minimally adequate for the task. The student attempts some less common vocabulary related to the process, such as 'manufactured', 'pulp', and 'amine oxide', but these are offset by noticeable errors in spelling and word choice, including 'splited' instead of split, 'wate' instead of water, 'spinned' instead of spun, and 'yam' instead of yarn. These lexical inaccuracies and typos cause some difficulty for the reader and prevent the response from achieving a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response demonstrates a very limited range of structures, relying mostly on faulty complex or compound sentences connected by comma splices, such as 'Firstly the bamboo plants are planted... then harvested... then the bamboo splited...'. There are frequent grammatical errors, including issues with passive voice construction ('The diagram illustrates that how cloth is manufactured'), missing articles, and subject-verb agreement problems ('the process is basically shows'). These frequent errors can cause difficulty for the reader and reflect a weak control of grammatical structures.
