Student answer (Band 5.5)

The picture illustrates how clothes are manufactured from bamboo.

Overall, it is clearly evident that, there are total nine stages involved in making of fabric. which is started with the growth of bamboo plants in spring season and ends with the production of fine clothes.

Initially, first step is began with growth of bamboo plants in Spring season. Then plants are harvested by farmers in second stage. Morover, in third stage these plans are brought to some factory area where plants cut in to small strip and put them in a grinder to crush these strips to make liquid pulp in 4th step.

Additionally, fifth stage includes filteration process, it is started by seperation of long fibers from liquid. After seperation of lisquid fibers get soften in six step where water and amine oxide are added. Furthermore, soft fibers send into a spiner to make yarn and then the yarn is woven into fabric. Finally all process of making fabric is completed.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the main stages of the process, providing a general overview and outlining the sequence from harvesting to final manufacturing. However, some parts of the process are under-developed or inaccurately described. For instance, the transition from cutting into strips to crushing is somewhat confused, and the explanation lacks precise details for certain steps shown in the diagram. While the main features are touched upon, the description tends to be mechanical and lacks the fully extended development expected for higher bands, resulting in a partial coverage of the task.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The text maintains a coherent overall arrangement with a discernible beginning, middle, and end. Paragraphing is used to separate the different stages of the process, and basic cohesive devices such as 'Initially', 'Additionally', and 'Finally' are employed to guide the reader through the sequence. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical, and referencing between sentences can be slightly unclear, as seen in awkward transitions like 'After seperation of lisquid fibers get soften'. To improve further, the writer needs to ensure smoother transitions and a more natural progression of ideas without relying on repetitive structural patterns.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, with attempts to incorporate less common terms related to manufacturing processes, such as 'manufactured', 'harvested', 'filteration', and 'amine oxide'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'seperation', 'lisquid', 'spiner', and the misspelling of 'morover' and 'plans'. These lexical slips and occasional inaccuracies in word formation prevent the vocabulary from reaching a higher level of precision and control, though they generally do not completely impede communication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the range remains limited and frequent errors are present. There are issues with subject-verb agreement, article usage, and punctuation, such as the fragment 'which is started with the growth...' and the comma splice in 'Overall, it is clearly evident that, there are...'. Furthermore, passive voice constructions and prepositional patterns are frequently mishandled, as seen in 'plants cut in to small strip' instead of 'cut into small strips'. These persistent errors cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a restricted control over complex grammatical forms.
