Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Write at least 150 words.
Student answer (Band 4.5)
The given diagram illustrates how fabric is manufactured and convert bamboo into a clothes.
Overall, the diagram follows the nine sequential process. Initially, bamboo plants are harvested by farmers and cuted into strips.Subsequently, soft fibres are extracted from bamboo with a some water and amine oxide, followed by the filter and separated the long fibres from a liquid. Bamboo are crushed into a strips and liquid pulp are ready to spin. Consequently, fibres goes through a spin process to make yam where weave is formed and it is ready to make a clothes.
In the beginning, bamboo are generally grew in spring season and harvested by a farmers in autumn, while it is cut into strips. After that, strips are crushed and liquid pulp is ready in the fourth process, followed by the filteration process to separate lonf fibres from a liquid

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
The response covers the main stages of the bamboo manufacturing process, but it fails to meet the minimum length requirement of 150 words, coming in at 142 words. While an overview is attempted in the second sentence, the selection of features is somewhat confused. The student reports the steps out of strict chronological order in the body paragraphs, stating that softening, filtering, crushing, and spinning happen in a somewhat jumbled sequence compared to the diagram. For instance, crushing is mentioned after filtering and separating. Furthermore, the description remains quite basic and lacks sufficient expansion, which limits the overall development of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is some basic mechanical organisation, beginning with an introduction, an overview sentence, and subsequent body sentences. However, the overall progression is difficult to follow due to confusing sequencing and inaccurate logical links. For example, transition words like 'Subsequently', 'Consequently', and 'while' are misused or awkwardly placed, creating a disjointed flow. Paragraphing is also poorly managed, with the text compressed into a few dense blocks rather than clearly separated paragraphs corresponding to the stages of the process. Referencing is sometimes unclear, making it hard for the reader to track the progression of the steps.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited and repetitive, demonstrating a basic range suitable for this level. There are noticeable word choice and word form errors that cause some difficulty for the reader, such as 'convert bamboo into a clothes', 'cuted' instead of cut, 'yam' instead of yarn, 'filter' used as a noun where filtration is needed, and 'lonf' instead of long. Less common terminology related to industrial processes is attempted, but with significant inaccuracy in spelling and collocation, which prevents the response from achieving a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer demonstrates a limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences with frequent errors when attempting complex patterns. There are recurring issues with verb tenses, passive voice construction, and article usage, such as 'bamboo are generally grew', 'a some water', 'the filter and separated', and 'make a clothes'. Punctuation and subject-verb agreement are also frequently inaccurate, with phrases like 'nine sequential process' and 'liquid pulp are ready'. These frequent errors cause strain and difficulty for the reader throughout the text.
