Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response partially addresses the task by attempting to describe the stages of bamboo fabric manufacturing. While the main steps are mentioned, the information is somewhat mechanical and lacks a fully developed overview. Certain stages, such as the transition from raw bamboo to crushed pulp, are touched upon, but the description remains limited and lacks extension. The overview provided in the second sentence is unclear and underdeveloped. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to present a clearer and more developed overview of the entire process, ensuring all key stages are reported with greater clarity and precision without unnecessary confusion in the sequencing.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is some basic organisation in the text, but it lacks a clear overall progression. The response suffers from inadequate and repetitive cohesive devices, with phrases like 'after that' overused excessively to link nearly every sentence. Paragraphing is not used effectively; the text is lumped together rather than logically separated into distinct stages of the process. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the chronological flow smoothly. To improve cohesion, the writer should use a wider variety of transition words and structure the response into logical paragraphs representing different phases of the manufacturing process.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and barely adequate for the task. There are noticeable errors in word choice, word form, and spelling throughout the response, such as 'form' instead of 'from', 'cutt down' instead of 'cut down', 'haevest' instead of 'harvest', 'plup' instead of 'pulp', 'liquad' instead of 'liquid', 'yam' instead of 'yarn', and 'quatity' instead of 'quantity'. These errors occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. To achieve a higher score, the writer needs to incorporate a wider and more accurate range of vocabulary related to processes and manufacturing, while paying closer attention to standard spelling and precise word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The text displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, consisting mostly of simple and frequently faulty attempts at complex sentences. There are frequent grammatical errors, including missing articles, incorrect verb forms, run-on sentences, and poor preposition usage, such as 'in end of the parts first is spin'. Punctuation is also problematic, as sentences run together without proper terminal punctuation. These frequent errors cause considerable difficulty for the reader. To improve in this area, the writer needs to work on basic sentence construction, ensure proper subject-verb agreement, use correct verb tenses for describing a passive process, and avoid run-on sentences by applying appropriate punctuation.
