Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, as it contains only 73 words. Because of this severe length restriction, the task is addressed only minimally. While the student attempts to outline some stages of the bamboo manufacturing process, the account is extremely brief and omits several key steps shown in the diagram. Furthermore, there is no proper overview provided, and the sequence of steps is confused and difficult to follow. To achieve a higher band, the writer must ensure they write at least 150 words, present a clear overview of the main stages, and report all key steps of the process accurately and logically.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is some basic organisation attempted, with opening and transitioning phrases such as 'Overall' and 'Lookiing into details'. However, the information lacks a clear logical progression because the sequencing of the steps is jumbled, and the paragraph structure is very rudimentary. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or inaccurately, which disrupts the flow of the description. To improve, the writer needs to group related steps into coherent paragraphs and use a wider range of appropriate transition words to guide the reader smoothly through the sequential process from start to finish.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and repetitive, with frequent errors in word choice, form, and spelling that occasionally strain the reader's understanding. Examples include 'sprined' instead of spring, 'weaved' instead of woven, 'fabres' instead of fibres, and 'oxided' instead of oxide. While there is an attempt to use process-specific terms such as 'bamboo', 'harvested', and 'liquid pulp', these are often marred by morphological inaccuracies. To reach a higher level, the student should expand their range of vocabulary, learn correct word forms for technical processes, and pay close attention to spelling.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response shows a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on basic, faulty attempts at simple and complex sentences. There are frequent errors in verb forms, voice, and prepositions, such as 'processing of manufactured from Bamboo', 'all the bamboo cut into strips', and 'by added water'. Punctuation is also erratic. These frequent errors cause considerable difficulty for the reader and distort the meaning in places. To achieve a higher score, the writer must demonstrate greater control over basic sentence construction, use the passive voice correctly for describing a manufacturing process, and reduce grammatical errors significantly.
