Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Write at least 150 words.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The diagram displays how fabric is manufactured from bamboo. It is the nine step process to convert a raw bamboos into the final products.

First process includes plantation of the bamboo plants and it is done in the spring season and harvested in the autumn. The next process includes cutting of bamboos into the strips with helps of saw blade and the strips are crushed to make liquid pulp. After extracting pulp it is sent to filter where long fibres are seperated from the liquid.

Moreover, the filtered liquid is sent for fiber softening where some water and amine oxided has been added into it. In the further process, the softened fiber is spined to make yarn and it is weaved in the next step to make fabric. The fabric is utilised make final products like tshirts and socks.

overall, the entire nine step process illustrates that how the raw bamboo tree is used to make tshirts and other socks.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the process as a sequence from planting bamboo to producing fabric and clothing, and you include several key stages, including seasonal planting and harvesting, crushing, filtering, softening, spinning and weaving. However, the overview is not sufficiently clear or accurate: the final sentence repeats the idea of making products rather than summarising the process’s main phases. Some details are also imprecise. For example, the diagram shows fibres being softened after they have been separated from the liquid, whereas “the filtered liquid is sent for fiber softening” suggests the liquid itself is treated. The response also does not clearly distinguish the initial growing and preparation stages from the later fibre-to-fabric stages. A more explicit overview and precise descriptions of what is processed at each step would strengthen coverage.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The stages are presented in a generally logical order, and paragraphing separates the early preparation from the later manufacturing steps. Sequencing expressions such as “The next process,” “Moreover,” and “In the further process” help the reader follow the sequence, so the organisation is coherent overall. However, some links are mechanical or unclear: “After extracting pulp it is sent to filter” does not clearly identify what “it” refers to, and “Moreover” signals addition rather than a necessary next stage. The final overview also repeats information already given instead of providing a distinct summary. To make progression more controlled, use precise references such as “the resulting pulp” and “the separated fibres,” and group the stages into clear phases without relying on repeated generic transitions.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is adequate for describing the process, with relevant terms such as “liquid pulp,” “long fibres,” “yarn,” and “fabric.” You also attempt more specific process language, including “plantation” and “extracting.” However, several word-choice, form and spelling problems reduce precision: “raw bamboos” is not the natural form here, “amine oxided” is inaccurate, and “spined” and “weaved” are incorrect forms for the intended processes. “The fabric is utilised make final products” also uses an unsuitable construction and collocation. These errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the general sequence, but they make the description less natural. Use standard process terms consistently, and check spelling and the correct forms of verbs and nouns before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple sentences and some longer structures, including “The next process includes cutting of bamboos into the strips … and the strips are crushed,” which shows an attempt to connect stages. However, control is uneven, and several sentence patterns contain errors. Examples include “It is the nine step process” (missing article and compound modifier form), “with helps of saw blade,” and “The fabric is utilised make final products,” where the grammatical construction is incomplete. The final sentence, “illustrates that how,” also uses an incorrect clause pattern. Some sentences are understandable, but these recurring problems limit accuracy and occasionally make relationships between actions unclear. Practise articles, verb patterns after “used/utilised,” and clause structures, while keeping longer sentences manageable.
