Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Write at least 150 words.

Student answer (Band 5.5)

The diagram illustrate the process of manufacturing of fabric from the bamboo

Basicly, the making of fabric undergoes 8 steps from harvesting of bamboo to producing soft fibers and to convert it into yarn .Ninth step is creating clothes from this fabric.

Firstly, the farmer harvest the bamboo in the autum because the bamboo grow in the spring secondly, sticks cut into the strips. However from converting this solid plant into the liquid through various procedure. They use different chemicals and liquids to solidified it.

According to the diagram , at the fourth step strips got crush to make liqid pulp through it. Moving to next it filter the long fibers from this liquid pulp .Now , amine oxide and water added to soften the fibers. These fibers spinned to make yarn finally, the fabric was produced by weaving yarn . Furthermore, fabric used to sew different type of clothes like shirt and sock .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the process as bamboo fabric production and include several key stages, from cutting and crushing the bamboo to filtering, softening, spinning and weaving. You also mention the final clothing products. However, the account is only partly complete: it omits the planting stage and does not clearly state that harvesting takes place in autumn after planting in spring. The overview that there are eight steps before clothing is made is useful, but the description of the early stages is unclear, especially “from harvesting of bamboo to producing soft fibers.” The claim that chemicals and liquids are used “to solidified it” misrepresents the process; the diagram shows water and amine oxide softening fibres. Cover the full sequence accurately and give a clearer overview of its agricultural and manufacturing phases.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response follows the general order of the process, and sequencing expressions such as “Firstly,” “Moving to next,” and “finally” help the reader track some stages. However, the progression is not consistently clear because several steps are compressed into long, loosely connected sentences. For example, “However from converting this solid plant into the liquid through various procedure” is an incomplete transition, and the shift from harvesting to cutting is not clearly explained. The paragraphing also does little to distinguish the overview from the detailed stages. Organise the response into a brief overview followed by a clearly ordered account, and use linking words only where they accurately show the relationship between stages.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant process vocabulary, including “strips,” “liquid pulp,” “fibers,” “yarn,” and “weaving,” which allows the reader to recognise many stages. However, the range is limited and some word choices or forms are inaccurate, making parts of the process difficult to interpret. “Solidified it” does not describe the diagram’s softening stage, while “different procedure” and “fabric used to sew” are imprecise or unnatural expressions. Spelling errors such as “Basicly,” “autum,” and “liqid” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise process verbs and natural collocations, such as “the strips are crushed,” “the fibres are softened,” and “the yarn is woven into fabric.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts both simple and more extended sentence forms, but control is inconsistent, and frequent errors sometimes make relationships between stages hard to follow. Examples include “The diagram illustrate,” “the farmer harvest,” and “These fibers spinned,” where subject–verb agreement or verb forms are incorrect. Several sentences lack a complete grammatical structure, notably “However from converting this solid plant into the liquid through various procedure.” Articles and plurals are also often missing or inconsistent, as in “the bamboo grow” and “different type of clothes.” Punctuation and spacing around commas and full stops are uneven. Practise forming complete sentences with a consistent present passive for process descriptions, for example, “The strips are crushed to produce liquid pulp.”
