Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the process as beginning with bamboo planting and ending with fabric and clothing, and you include the seasonal details of planting in spring and harvesting in autumn. However, the account only partially reports the stages and contains important sequencing inaccuracies: the strips are crushed to make liquid pulp before filtering, and the fibres are softened after filtering, whereas your response says they are softened and then filtered and crushed. The overview is also vague (“several stages”) rather than summarising the main transformation from harvested bamboo to yarn, fabric and garments. To improve, give a clear overview and describe each key stage in the correct order, including spinning the softened fibres into yarn.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic chronological shape, moving from planting towards the final products, and paragraph breaks provide some separation. However, progression is difficult to follow because several stages are compressed into long sentences linked by “Furthermore,” “moreover” and “afterwards.” These connectors do not always clarify the relationships between steps, and the incorrect order of filtering, softening and crushing adds to the confusion. The overview also repeats the idea that fabric is produced without clearly previewing the process. Organise the report into a concise introduction and overview, followed by stages in sequence, and use clear references such as “Next,” “After this” and “Finally” only where they accurately signal the order.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant process vocabulary, including “harvest,” “strips,” “fibres,” “amine oxide,” “yarn” and “weave,” so the reader can recognise the general topic. However, the range is limited and several choices or combinations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “the bamboo’s plants are plant,” “process of labor hard work,” and “yarn is process in to weave.” Repetition of “process,” “fabric” and “after” also limits precision. Use the diagram’s specific verbs consistently: bamboo is planted, strips are crushed, fibres are filtered and softened, yarn is spun, and fabric is woven. More accurate collocations would make the stages easier to understand.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

There are attempts to combine ideas using time clauses and linking phrases, but sentence structures are often faulty, and errors frequently make the sequence harder to interpret. Examples include “the bamboo’s plants are plant,” “after harvesting they are went through a saw,” and “after yarn is process in to weave.” These show problems with verb forms, passive constructions, agreement and sentence boundaries. Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, particularly at the starts of sentences and around long chains of clauses. Practise accurate passive forms for process descriptions, such as “The bamboo is harvested” and “The strips are crushed,” and use shorter sentences when describing several stages. This will help you show a wider range without losing control.
