Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the process as bamboo being transformed into fabric and include several key stages, including planting in spring, harvesting in autumn, crushing, filtering, softening, spinning and weaving. The overview also notes that there are nine steps, and the final clothing items are mentioned. However, some details are unclear or inaccurate: “sowing” is not specified in the diagram, and the description does not clearly explain that the filtered long fibres are softened before being spun into yarn. The response is also below the required 150 words, so there is limited space to report the stages fully. To strengthen the summary, describe the sequence precisely and include a clearer overview of the progression from growing bamboo to finished garments.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and a description of the process in sequence. Words such as “In the beginning,” “Then,” “Later” and “Afterwards” help signal progression. However, the progression is not always easy to follow because some sentences combine stages without clearly showing their relationship, as in “got harvested it cut into strips and got crushed.” The repeated use of “Moreover” and “Furthermore” is not always appropriate for a step-by-step process, and references such as “that yarn” and “that weave” are unclear. Use one paragraph for the overview and another for the stages, with accurate sequence markers and clearer references to each material as it changes.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant process vocabulary, including “strips,” “liquid pulp,” “long fibres,” “amine oxide,” “yarn” and “weaving procedure,” which helps communicate the main stages. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate or awkward, such as “cloths,” “filteration,” “got chance” and “turn into different items.” Spelling errors such as “seprate” also reduce precision. Some phrases are repeated or vague, particularly “process” and “stuff,” making the description less exact than it could be. Aim for standard process collocations and precise nouns, for example, say that fibres are separated from liquid and spun into yarn before the fabric is woven.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts a few longer sentence patterns, including “After that…” and “Later… after adding water and amine oxide,” but the range is limited and complex constructions are often faulty. Errors include subject–verb agreement in “plants was cultivated,” missing or misplaced subjects in “got harvested it cut into strips,” and tense or passive-form problems in “that yarn convert into weave.” Sentence boundaries and capitalisation are also inconsistent, as in “In the beginning, After plants sowed in starting of the year.got harvested.” These errors sometimes make the sequence difficult to understand. Practise forming clear passive sentences for processes, such as “The bamboo is cut into strips” and “The fibres are softened,” and check agreement, articles and punctuation.
