Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Write at least 150 words.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
The given 9 step process demonstrate how fabric is manufactured from bamboo. Starting from plantation, processing and weaving the final product.
The initial process follows the plantation of bamboo plant in Spring Season and harvesting it in Autumn. Followed by cutting down the palnt into strips with the help of a machine and crushed to produce liquid plup which is filtered out and soften it by adding water and amine oxide. In the final phase, the soften fibres is made into yarn by the use of spinning wheel and weaved into fabric manufacturing the final products like t-shirt and socks.
Overall, these process helps in manufacturing of fabric.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the process as having nine steps and include several accurate details, such as planting in spring, harvesting in autumn, adding water and amine oxide, and producing yarn, fabric, and clothing. However, the response is substantially under the required 150 words, so the stages are compressed and important information is omitted. For example, the filtering stage is only briefly mentioned, and the final step of making clothing is not clearly described as a separate stage. The overview, “these process helps in manufacturing of fabric,” is too general to summarise the main features. Develop a clearer overview and explain each stage in sequence, including how the process moves from raw bamboo to finished products.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall sequence: an introduction, a paragraph covering the early and later stages, and a brief concluding overview. Connectors such as “Followed by” and “In the final phase” help signal progression, and the reader can generally follow the transformation from bamboo to fabric. However, most of the process is packed into one long sentence, making the relationships between cutting, crushing, filtering, and softening less clear. The final overview also repeats the general idea of the introduction rather than adding a useful summary. Use separate sentences or paragraphs for the preparation and manufacturing stages, and connect each step explicitly so the sequence is easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant process vocabulary, including “harvesting,” “filtered,” “fibres,” “yarn,” and “weaved,” which helps convey the main stages. There is also an attempt to use more specific terms such as “amine oxide” and “spinning wheel.” However, the range is limited, and several word-choice, spelling, or form errors reduce precision: “plantation” is not the natural term for planting bamboo, “liquid plup” is misspelled, and “soften” is used where a past participle is needed. “Cutting down the plant” is also less precise than describing the bamboo as being cut into strips. Use accurate process verbs and check spelling and word forms carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a sentence that links the stages with “Followed by” and another beginning “In the final phase.” The sequence is usually understandable, but grammatical control is inconsistent. The opening sentence has a subject–verb agreement error (“process demonstrate”), while “Starting from plantation, processing and weaving the final product” is a fragment rather than a complete sentence. There are also agreement and verb-form problems in “these process helps” and “the soften fibres is made.” The long middle sentence combines many actions without consistently maintaining a clear grammatical structure. Build complete sentences around each stage and check singular/plural agreement and verb forms.
