Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Write at least 150 words.

Student answer (Band 5.5)

The given diagram outlines the procedure to manufacturing the bamboo fabric. Overall, it can be seen that how fabric is produced by the different processes, the beginning with plant bambo plants, then passing through the different processes, the ending with production of the bamboo fabric.

Now, turning to the details, the process starts with plant bambo plants. This followed by the harvesting of bamboo plants, which mainly done in an autumn season. Once harvested, the bamboo plants cut into strips. Then, these strips are crush to make liquid pulp. in addition, throught the process of filteration, separate long fibres from liquid.Furthermore, adding water and amine oxide, it soften fibres. The procedure further moves to the process of spin to make yam. The final stage involves the process of the weave to make fibric. Finally, the bamboo fabric is use to make different kinds of wearing items

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the process as beginning with planting and ending with clothing, and you report most of the main stages in the correct order, including harvesting, cutting, crushing, filtering, softening, spinning and weaving. However, the overview is vague and repeats the idea of “different processes” rather than summarising the key transformation from bamboo plants into finished products. Some details are unclear or incomplete: the diagram specifies planting in spring, which you omit, and the final stage shows clothing items made from the fabric, rather than simply saying the fabric is used for them. The response is also four words below the required minimum. Add a clearer overview and a little more accurate detail about the stages and endpoints.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The stages are presented in a generally logical sequence, and signposting such as “Overall,” “Now, turning to the details,” “Once harvested,” and “Finally” helps the reader follow the process. This gives the response a coherent overall arrangement. However, the paragraphing is not clearly developed, and several transitions feel mechanical or awkward, particularly “in addition” and “Furthermore,” which do not clearly express the relationship between the filtering and softening stages. The overview also repeats the sequence rather than establishing a concise summary of the process. To strengthen progression, use a distinct overview followed by a well-organised description, and connect stages through their actual relationship—for example, explaining that the fibres are filtered and then softened.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant process vocabulary, including “harvesting,” “strips,” “liquid pulp,” “fibres,” and “weave,” so the reader can recognise the main stages. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, word-form and spelling errors reduce precision: “bambo plants,” “filteration,” “yam,” and “fibric” appear where accurate terms are needed. Phrases such as “the process of the weave” and “different kinds of wearing items” are also unnatural or imprecise. Aim to use standard process collocations and check spelling carefully; for example, “weave the yarn into fabric” is clearer than “the process of the weave.” More precise vocabulary would make the description easier to understand.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex forms, including the overview construction “Overall, it can be seen…” and the time clause “Once harvested…”. However, control is inconsistent, and errors occur in many sentences. Examples include “the procedure to manufacturing” instead of a correct infinitive or gerund pattern, “This followed by” without a finite verb, and “the bamboo plants cut into strips” without passive auxiliary verbs. There are also agreement and tense problems in “it soften fibres” and “the bamboo fabric is use.” These errors sometimes make the process descriptions difficult to read. Practise accurate passive forms for process writing—such as “the strips are crushed” and “the fibres are softened”—and check that each sentence has a complete verb structure.
