Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify several stages, including planting in spring, harvesting in autumn, cutting and crushing the bamboo, processing the fibres, spinning yarn and weaving fabric. However, the response does not give a clear overview of the process or accurately explain its full sequence and outcome. For example, it says the material is transported to a factory, which is not shown, and describes the final stage as making clothing without clearly stating that the diagram shows finished clothing items. The opening also misidentifies the visual as a “map chart” and repeats the task wording rather than summarising the main features. The response is 142 words, below the required 150. Develop a concise overview and report the stages in order using only information shown.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is a basic attempt to present the stages in sequence, using markers such as “To begin with,” “After the second categories,” and “second last categories.” This gives the reader some sense of progression through the process. However, the response is one continuous paragraph, and the repeated, inaccurate phrase “categories” makes the organisation difficult to follow. Some links are unclear: “After the third categories is crush strips its tranport to factory” introduces an unsupported step and does not connect smoothly to the next stage. Group the process into a short introduction/overview and a logically ordered description, and use simple, accurate transitions such as “Next,” “After filtering,” and “Finally.”
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response includes some relevant process vocabulary, such as “harvest,” “strips,” “liquid pulp,” “fibres,” “amine oxide,” “spin,” and “weave.” These terms show an attempt to describe the diagram rather than relying entirely on general language. However, the range is limited and several choices or spellings make the meaning unclear, including “map chart,” “baboo,” “fibric,” “yarm,” and “shokes.” “Categories” is repeatedly used where “stage” or “step” is needed, and “bamboo fabric was planted” confuses the raw material with the finished product. Use precise process terms consistently, check spelling, and distinguish bamboo plants, fibres, yarn and fabric.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts to connect stages in longer sentences, for example, “After the second categories harvest it is cut into many strips,” but sentence structures are limited and frequently inaccurate. Problems with articles, agreement and verb forms appear in phrases such as “The first categories is,” “bamboo fabric was planted,” and “is harvest.” Several sentences are fragments or lack a clear grammatical subject, including “In the other categories is factory bamboo fabric is Filter…” Punctuation is also weak: “To begin with.” is separated from the sentence it introduces, and spacing after full stops is inconsistent. Practise clear subject–verb sentences in the present simple, such as “The bamboo is harvested in autumn,” before combining stages with accurate linking clauses.
