Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Write at least 150 words.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The process chart illustrates the several steps and equipments involved in the production of fabric using bamboo.

Overall, it is clear that the process of producing fabric form bamboo underwent nine stages, starting with bamboo plantation in spring , ending with finish product that is ready to use as a cloth.

Initially, bamboo plantation is started in spring and wait for harvesting in autum. Once they are harvested from the farms and transported into the production facilities. They are than cut into the strips and crushed to make liquid pulip by using cutter mechine.

Once this stage is completed, The liquiq pulip are undergoes filleration process, which long fibers are separated from the liquid to ensure the clean product. Additionally, There are added water and amine oxide to make the fibric soften. Than this soften fabric sent to the spinning, where yarn is produced to spun, and than weaved it to transform a fabric and ready to make clothes.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the process as having nine stages and give a clear start and finish: planting in spring and producing clothing. You also report the main sequence from harvesting through cutting, crushing, filtering, softening, spinning and weaving, so the response addresses the diagram. However, some details are unclear or inaccurate: the diagram shows the final stage as clothing items, but your account only says the fabric is “ready to make clothes”; it does not mention the finished T-shirt and socks. The claim that bamboo is transported to production facilities is not shown. The overview could also better summarise the two broad phases—growing and harvesting the plant, followed by processing it into fabric and clothing. More precise coverage of the final stage would strengthen the report.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction and overview are followed by two paragraphs describing the stages. The sequence is generally easy to follow, and transitions such as “Initially,” “Once this stage is completed,” and “Additionally” help connect the process. This clear progression is a strength. However, some links are awkward or unclear, particularly “Once they are harvested … facilities. They are than cut,” where punctuation and the abrupt transition interrupt the flow. “Additionally” does not express a clear sequential relationship between filtering and softening, and the final sentence compresses spinning, weaving and clothing production. Use consistent stage-by-stage sequencing and clearer sentence boundaries to make the progression more fluent and cohesive.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant process vocabulary, including “harvesting,” “crushed,” “liquid pulp,” “fibers,” “spinning,” and “yarn,” which allows the reader to understand the general production stages. There are also attempts at more specific terms, such as “amine oxide.” However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, including “autum,” “pulip,” “filleration,” “fibric,” and “mechine.” Some collocations and forms are also imprecise: “bamboo plantation” is less natural than “bamboo plants are planted,” and “soften fabric” should refer to fibres at that stage. These errors sometimes make the process harder to interpret. Check spelling carefully and choose terms that match the diagram’s materials and actions.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a time clause in “Once this stage is completed” and a relative clause in “where yarn is produced.” The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but grammatical control is uneven. For example, “bamboo plantation is started … and wait” shifts from a singular subject to an unexpressed plural subject, while “The liquiq pulip are undergoes” combines incompatible verb forms. “There are added water” also has an incorrect construction, and several sentence boundaries are missing or misplaced, as in “facilities. They are.” These errors affect clarity, especially in the later stages. Practise consistent subject–verb agreement, passive forms for process descriptions, and punctuation between complete sentences.
