Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the general process and include several key stages, such as cutting bamboo into strips, crushing and filtering it, softening the fibres, spinning yarn and weaving fabric. However, the response only partially covers the diagram: it does not clearly report the planting season (spring) or harvesting season (autumn), and the overview is difficult to understand. The final stage is described vaguely as making clothes and “related some thing,” rather than clearly noting the clothing items shown. Some details are also inaccurate or unsupported, including bamboo growing “under the earth” and harvesting by a machine. The response is 11 words below the required minimum, which limits the space available to describe the process fully. A clearer overview and accurate coverage of the start and end stages would strengthen the report.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic structure, with an introduction, an overview and two paragraphs that broadly follow the process from growing bamboo to making fabric. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Next” and “second last” help indicate order. However, progression is sometimes difficult to follow because several stages are compressed into long, loosely connected sentences. For example, “crush these strips and separate liquid while filter the liquid” does not clearly distinguish crushing from filtering. The overview also strings stages together without clear relationships. Use one or two sentences per group of stages, and connect them with precise transitions such as “After harvesting” and “Once the fibres have been softened.” This would make the organisation clearer and reduce the impression of mechanical sequencing.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant process vocabulary, including “harvest,” “strips,” “fibres,” “filter,” “spin” and “weave,” so the reader can recognise many stages. However, the range is limited and several word choices or spellings make the meaning unclear: “bambo,” “peaces,” “yam” and “cloths” appear where the intended terms are bamboo, pieces, yarn and clothes. Phrases such as “collect these spin” and “related some thing to the clothes for wears” are not natural or precise descriptions of the diagram. Aim to use accurate process collocations, for example, “crush the strips into pulp,” “separate the long fibres from the liquid,” and “produce finished clothing.” Proofreading spelling and choosing specific nouns will improve clarity.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt to describe a sequence using both simple and linked clauses, but grammatical control is inconsistent, and errors frequently make relationships between stages difficult to understand. The opening, “shows that how fabric is manufactured,” has an unnecessary “that”; “its harvest by the human farmer” lacks a correctly formed passive verb; and “for soften fibres add water” does not use the infinitive or sentence structure accurately. There are also problems with articles, agreement and plurals, as in “this fibres” and “a cloths.” Most sentences are long or incomplete, with punctuation that does not reliably separate ideas. Practise clear passive forms such as “The bamboo is harvested,” and build shorter, complete sentences before attempting more complex links.
