Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Write at least 150 words.

Student answer (Band 5.0)

The pictorial representation illustrates the steps of how the fabric is manufactored from the bamboo plant. Overall the bamboo plant grows in springs and have steps at the end. It is use to make clothes.

To begin with, these steps first thing is to grow seeds in agriculture areas in spring mostly. Harvest cut the plant after it grows in autumn. Furthermore cut the plant into strip pieces and then crush the strips to make a liquid pulp for next step. The fifth part is filter the long fibres from liquid fluid.

Continuously, in fifth step add some chemical like amine oxide and add some water in it to make soften fibres and then move on to the next step. Spin it on sometime to make yam moreover, wave it to make fabric that is use to make clothes. The last step is to make a clothes for example a t- shirts or socks.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the process as bamboo being turned into fabric and clothing, and include several central stages: harvesting, cutting, crushing, filtering, softening, spinning and weaving. However, the overview is unclear and does not summarise the process accurately: “the bamboo plant grows in springs and have steps at the end” does not explain the overall progression from cultivation to finished products. Some details are also inaccurate or confusing. The diagram shows planting bamboo, not growing seeds in agricultural areas, and the softening stage follows filtering; your phrase “in fifth step” makes the sequence difficult to follow. To strengthen the response, give a clear overview of the full sequence and describe each stage in its correct order, including the final clothing products.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic paragraph structure, moving from an introduction and overview to the early and later stages. Sequencing expressions such as “To begin with,” “Furthermore,” and “then” help show that this is a process. However, progression is not consistently clear: “Continuously, in fifth step” appears to repeat the filtering stage, although the next action is softening, and “these steps first thing” is an awkward transition. Some sentences also combine several stages without clear boundaries, making the sequence harder to follow. Use one paragraph for the overview and organise the process in chronological groups, with accurate links such as “After filtering” and “Finally.”

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant process vocabulary, including “harvest,” “strips,” “liquid pulp,” “fibres,” “spin,” and “fabric,” which allows the reader to recognise the main stages. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, or spelling errors reduce precision. “Manufactored” is misspelled, “yam” appears to be an incorrect form of “yarn,” and “wave it” is not the right verb for producing fabric by weaving. Phrases such as “liquid fluid” are redundant, while “chemical like” is imprecise for the named substance. Aim for accurate process terms and natural collocations, for example, “the fibres are softened” and “the yarn is woven into fabric.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts both simple and longer sentences, and the overall meaning can usually be understood. However, the range of sentence structures is limited, and errors occur frequently in agreement, verb forms, articles and sentence construction. For example, “the bamboo plant grows in springs and have steps” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “It is use to make clothes” uses the wrong verb form. “Harvest cut the plant after it grows” lacks a clear grammatical subject, and “that is use to make clothes” repeats the verb-form error. Practise forming complete passive sentences for process descriptions, such as “The strips are crushed” and “The fibres are softened,” and check agreement and articles in each sentence.
