Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the process as a sequence from growing bamboo to making fabric and mention several accurate stages, including spring planting, autumn harvesting, cutting, crushing, filtering, softening, and spinning. However, the account is only partial: the weaving stage is not clearly reported, and the final step is described vaguely as making “clothes and other things,” rather than noting that the diagram shows finished clothing. The overview is also unclear and does not summarise the main transformation from bamboo plants into fabric. Some details, such as “lots of workers” and protection from winter, are not supported by the diagram. The response is 143 words, below the required 150. To improve, give a concise overview, cover all stages accurately, and avoid adding unsupported information.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response follows the general order of the process, so readers can recognise a progression from cultivation to finished products. Sequencing phrases such as “After that” and “in next step” help signal movement between stages. However, the writing is presented as one continuous paragraph, and several transitions are repetitive or awkward, including repeated uses of “in next.” The opening sentence and overview are difficult to follow, while punctuation and spacing make some stage boundaries unclear. For example, “in the first” does not connect smoothly to the planting information. Organise the response into a short introduction and overview followed by a clearly ordered process description, using varied, accurate links such as “subsequently” and “finally.”

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant process vocabulary, including “harvest,” “strips,” “liquid pulp,” “filter,” “fibres,” and “yarn,” which helps communicate the main stages. However, the range is limited and several word choices or combinations are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning unclear. For instance, “the bamboo is manufactured with the fabric” does not express the relationship between the raw material and the product, and “which crushed into strips” confuses crushing with cutting. “All liquid put into the filter” is also imprecise for describing the separation of fibres from liquid. Spelling errors such as “subsquents” and “protetctct” further reduce clarity. Build a more precise process vocabulary and check spelling and collocations before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts to connect stages in longer sentences, but sentence structures are often incomplete or inaccurately formed, which can make the process difficult to follow. Examples include “in the first” and “in next step add water,” where a complete clause is needed, and “which crushed into strips,” which lacks an appropriate verb form and subject. There are recurring problems with articles, agreement, and tense, as in “the plant bamboo is grown” and “its harvest.” Punctuation and capitalisation are also inconsistent, with sentence openings such as “in the first” left unfinished. Practise writing complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and use consistent present simple passive forms for process descriptions, such as “The bamboo is harvested.”
