Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the process as making fabric from bamboo and include several relevant stages, including planting, harvesting, cutting, crushing, filtering, softening, spinning and weaving. However, the overview is unclear and inaccurate: you say there are “eight main stages,” whereas the diagram shows nine, and the final stage—finished clothing—is not clearly reported. Some details are also unsupported: the diagram gives spring planting but does not specify April or May. The response is under the required 150 words, so it does not provide enough development to summarise the process fully. To improve, give a concise overview of the full sequence and accurately describe the final products as well as the key transformation from bamboo strips into yarn and fabric.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response follows the general order of the process, and phrases such as “After that” and “The next step” help signal sequence. Paragraphing also separates the introduction and overview from some stage details. However, progression is weakened by repetition and unclear links: “There are several process” repeats the opening idea, while “After the bamboo strips filter the bamboo” makes the relationship between crushing and filtering difficult to follow. The overview also interrupts the sequence by repeating that there are several processes without summarising the main stages. Organise the report into a clear introduction, a one-sentence overview, and a chronological description, using precise links such as “Once crushed” and “After the fibres are softened.”

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant process vocabulary, including “harvest,” “strips,” “liquid pulp,” “fibres,” “amine oxide,” “yarn” and “weave.” These terms show awareness of the diagram’s subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or spellings make the description less clear, such as “spone” for “spun,” “luquid,” “seperate,” and “ito.” Some phrases are also unnatural, including “it modify ito fabric” and “convert into fabric”; the final stage is clothing, not another conversion into fabric. Aim for accurate process collocations and vary repeated uses of “step” and “process.” Proofreading technical terms and choosing precise verbs would make the account easier to understand.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts both simple sentences and a few longer constructions, but grammatical control is inconsistent and errors sometimes obscure the process. Examples include “It has several process,” “bamboo plant are planting,” and “the bamboo have to cut into strips,” which show problems with plurals, agreement, passive forms and articles. The sentence beginning “After the bamboo strips…” is incomplete or incorrectly structured, and “After complete this all process then…” does not form a clear clause. Most sentences rely on basic patterns, with little accurate variety. Practise describing processes with consistent passive constructions, for example, “The bamboo is harvested in autumn” and “The strips are crushed to produce liquid pulp,” then check agreement and sentence boundaries.
