Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Write at least 150 words.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
The above diagram explains in nine different steps that how fabric is made from the bamboo plant.
In the first two steps, bamboo plants cultivated in the spring and harvested it in autumn. In the next two steps cutting of stems into strips was seen along with this crushing takes place to make liquid pulp extraction from these strips. In the fifth step, filtration takes place that will help to separate long fibres from liquid pulp. Next step is important which soften fibres by adding amine oxide and water. When fibre was soften then spining takes place to make yarn. In the next step, weave it to make fabric which later on in last step it was sold in the market to make clothes.
Overall, all of the nine steps, was explained clearly from naturally cultivation to soften fabric and till fabric manufacturing. This is how a bamboo fabric obtained naturally.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the process as having nine stages and report several key steps accurately, including planting in spring, harvesting in autumn, filtering the pulp, softening fibres with water and amine oxide, and spinning yarn. However, the account only partly fulfils the task because the overview is vague and does not clearly summarise the process from cultivation through to finished products. The final claim that the fabric “was sold in the market” is not shown; the diagram instead depicts clothing items as the final stage. Some stages are also compressed or unclear, particularly cutting and crushing. Give a concise, accurate overview and describe the final clothing stage without adding unsupported information.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a recognisable sequence, moving from cultivation to processing and then fabric production, and phrases such as “In the first two steps,” “In the fifth step,” and “Next step” help the reader follow the stages. The paragraphing also separates the process description from an overall statement. This gives the account a coherent overall arrangement. However, the sequencing language is somewhat mechanical, and the overview repeats the idea that the steps are explained rather than synthesising the main phases. Some references are unclear, as in “along with this crushing takes place,” and the final sentence does not connect smoothly to the preceding description. Use clearer links between stages and make the overview summarise the process’s broad progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use a reasonable range of process vocabulary, including “cultivated,” “harvested,” “filtration,” “fibres,” “pulp,” and “manufacturing,” which allows the main stages to be understood. There are also attempts at more specific terms, such as “separate long fibres from liquid pulp.” However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward: “fabric is made from the bamboo plant” is less precise than describing bamboo as the raw material, and “soften fabric” does not match the stage, which softens fibres. “Spining” is misspelled, and “sold in the market” introduces an unsupported idea. Choose precise process terms and check spelling and natural combinations of words.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “which will help to separate long fibres from liquid pulp.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors sometimes make the relationships between stages difficult to follow. For example, “In the first two steps, bamboo plants cultivated in the spring and harvested it in autumn” lacks a correctly formed verb and has an unclear subject; “which soften fibres” also has incorrect agreement and tense. The sentence beginning “In the next two steps” is awkwardly constructed, while “all of the nine steps, was explained” has a subject–verb agreement error. Practise accurate passive forms for process descriptions and check agreement, tense, and sentence boundaries.
