Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Write at least 150 words.
Student answer (Band 6.5)
The provided illustration below displays the way of manufacturing fabric from bamboo plants.
overall, it is a multi-step process consisting of nine distinct phases. The procedure starts with planting bamboo plants in Spring and ends with production a number of items.
Initially, the bamboo plants are planted in Spring season. In Autumn, after couple months of planting bamboo, they are harvested by a worker. After that, plants are cut into many pieces through a machine. Then the strips are crushed to make liquid pulp. This is followed by separating long fibers from the liquid through a filter. Once the long fibers have been separated from liquid, they are soften by adding water and amine oxide to them.
A large yarn is made from spinning the product. From a yarn, fabric is made which is available for the ultimate stage. At the final stage, a number of items are produced from fabric such as sacks and T-shirt, which are ready to be sent to customers.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You identify the process as having nine stages and give a clear start and finish: planting in spring and producing finished items. Most key stages are reported in the correct order, including crushing, filtering, softening with water and amine oxide, spinning, and weaving. However, a few details are inaccurate or insufficiently precise: the diagram shows bamboo cut into strips, not simply “many pieces,” and the final products shown are a T-shirt and socks, not sacks. “After couple months” is also unsupported; the diagram only specifies the seasons. The overview is relevant, but the final stage and some processing details could be described more faithfully to the visual.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The response is organised in a clear sequence, moving from an overview to the growing and processing stages, then to the finished products. Time and sequence markers such as “Initially,” “After that,” “Then,” and “At the final stage” help the reader follow the process. The paragraph break also separates the overview from the detailed account. Some links are slightly repetitive, and “Once the long fibers have been separated…” restates the preceding filtering step before moving on. The transition from yarn to fabric is understandable but could be more explicit about weaving. More varied, precise referencing and tighter links between consecutive stages would make the progression smoother.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.5
You use a suitable range of process vocabulary, including “harvested,” “crushed,” “liquid pulp,” “filter,” “fibers,” and “spinning,” so the manufacturing sequence is generally clear. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “amine oxide.” Some choices are imprecise or awkward for this diagram: “a large yarn” is not a natural description of the yarn produced, “available for the ultimate stage” is vague, and “sacks” does not match the pictured products. “The way of manufacturing” is also less idiomatic than a direct description of how fabric is made. Greater precision in naming the materials and products, alongside more natural collocations, would strengthen the vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and more complex forms, including the time clause “In Autumn, after couple months of planting bamboo…” and the passive construction “they are soften by adding water and amine oxide.” The sequence remains understandable, but some grammatical errors persist. For example, “they are soften” needs the past participle “softened,” and “after couple months” requires an article or determiner. “Ends with production a number of items” is missing “of,” while “From a yarn, fabric is made” has an awkward article and sentence structure. Check articles, verb forms, and prepositions, and aim for more consistently accurate passive constructions when describing the stages.
