Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Write at least 150 words.

Student answer (Band 5.5)

The given diagram show how bamboo fabric is made, it contain 8 steps from planting bamboo to weave.

Initially we plant bamboo tree in a Spring because Spring is a best season to grow any plant then, when bamboo is fully grown we harvest the tree mostly in Autumn when it is easy to harvest then we cut bamboo stem into strips with sharp cutter then take strips for further process in which we crush strips to make liquid pulp after that we do filter process in which we separate long fibers from liquid this process should done carefully moreover, to make fiber soften we add water and amine oxide after that we do spin to make yarn from which we weave to make a fabric from which we can make any peice of cloth.

To sum up, the method of manufacturing fabric from bamboo contain 8 steps from planting tree to making fabric in addition it is very hardworking method.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the process as bamboo fabric production and report most of the main stages in the correct order, including planting in spring, harvesting in autumn, crushing, filtering, softening, spinning and weaving. However, the overview is inaccurate: the diagram has nine numbered stages, and the final stage is making clothing, which you omit. The opening says “from planting bamboo to weave,” while the conclusion ends at fabric, so the process is not fully summarised. Some details are also added without support, such as spring being “the best season” and harvesting being easier in autumn. To strengthen the response, give a concise overview of the full sequence, including the finished garments, and report only information shown in the diagram.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The stages are generally presented in a sensible chronological order, and sequencing expressions such as “Initially,” “after that” and “To sum up” help the reader follow the process. The response also separates the description from a concluding paragraph. However, nearly all the production stages are compressed into one very long paragraph and sentence, making the progression difficult to track. Several connectors are repeated, and the conclusion repeats the step-count claim rather than highlighting the process’s main features. Use clearer paragraphing—for example, group cultivation and preparation separately from fibre processing and manufacture—and divide the sequence into shorter sentences. This would make the organisation more controlled and cohesion less mechanical.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant process vocabulary, including “harvest,” “strips,” “liquid pulp,” “filter,” “fibers,” “yarn” and “weave,” so the reader can understand the general production sequence. However, the range is limited and some choices are imprecise or repetitive: “tree” is used for bamboo, “sharp cutter” is vague, and “hardworking method” does not naturally describe a manufacturing process. There are also spelling errors such as “peice,” and “fiber” is not used consistently with “fibers.” Aim for more precise process language and accurate collocations, such as “bamboo stalks,” “cutting machine” and “labour-intensive process.” This would improve clarity and show more flexible vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts to connect stages using subordinate clauses and time expressions, but sentence structures are often faulty, and errors sometimes make the description harder to follow. For example, “The given diagram show” has subject–verb disagreement, while “it contain 8 steps” also needs agreement. Articles and sentence boundaries are frequently problematic, as in “a Spring because Spring is a best season,” and the long middle sentence joins many clauses with commas and “then” without clear punctuation. The phrase “this process should done carefully” is missing an auxiliary verb. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then combine related stages with controlled clauses. Check agreement, articles, verb forms and full stops during editing.
