Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Write at least 150 words.

Student answer (Band 5.5)

The process explains the manufacturing process of bamboo fabric from bambo plant to fabric.

Initially, they harvest the bamboo plant which they grow in spring season. After that the process of its cutting, crushing, filtering and softening fibre. occur. Following this, they spin it to make yam then weave them to make fabric, from which the clothes were made.

Firstly, they grow the bamboo plant at their selected lands in spring season. Afterward they harvest the bamboo in Autumn then send it to the factory. At factory, the cut the bamboo into strips and then cruch those strips to make liquid pulp. Thereafter the filter it to separate the long fibres from liquid.

In next stage of soften fibres comes. In which they add water and amine oxide. Eventually the spin it to make yam which is used to make weave. At the last stage, weave is used to make fabric. As a result of it, clothes were made.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the main stages from growing and harvesting bamboo through processing the fibres, spinning yarn, weaving fabric and producing clothing. You also include useful details such as the seasons and the addition of water and amine oxide. However, the overview is not clearly separated from the stage-by-stage account, and some descriptions are unclear or inaccurate: for example, “they harvest the bamboo plant which they grow in spring” reverses the order, while the diagram shows planting in spring and harvesting in autumn. The final stages are also muddled by saying yarn “is used to make weave.” To strengthen the response, give a concise overview of the process’s overall progression and describe each stage accurately and clearly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has some organisation: it moves broadly from cultivation to factory processing and then to the finished products, and transitions such as “Afterward,” “Thereafter” and “Eventually” help signal sequence. However, the opening repeats information that is then presented again in the body, and the two accounts do not always progress consistently. The paragraphing also does not clearly distinguish an overview from the detailed stages. Some links are awkward or unclear, particularly “In next stage of soften fibres comes” and “As a result of it.” Organise the response into a brief overview followed by a chronological account, and use clear references and transitions rather than repeating the process summary.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant process vocabulary, including “harvest,” “strips,” “liquid pulp,” “filter,” “fibres,” “spin” and “weave,” which allows the reader to recognise most stages. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, spelling or collocation errors reduce precision: “yam” is used for “yarn,” “bambo” for “bamboo,” and “cruch” for “crush.” Phrases such as “make weave” and “the process of its cutting” are also unnatural. Use the diagram’s precise terms consistently, and choose natural process expressions such as “the fibres are softened” and “the yarn is woven into fabric.” Proofreading would help prevent avoidable spelling errors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex forms, including a sequence of clauses beginning “After that” and “which is used to make weave.” However, grammatical errors are frequent, and some sentence structures are incomplete or difficult to follow. For example, “After that the process of its cutting, crushing, filtering and softening fibre. occur” has faulty sentence construction and agreement, while “At factory, the cut the bamboo” lacks a clear subject and has an incorrect verb form. “In next stage of soften fibres comes” is also not a complete, well-formed sentence. Practise writing complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and use passive forms consistently for a process, such as “The strips are crushed” and “The fibres are softened.”
