Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Write at least 150 words.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The diagram shows various stages in process of how fabric is manufactured from bamboo. Overall, the entire process involves a total 9 distinct steps, beginning with bamboo plants and culminating into clothes.
In general, it is clear that this linear process consisting of several sequential phase. The process primarily involves transforming bamboo plants into woven before it is finally converted into clothes.
The first stage of the process beging when bamboo plant is harvested in autumn season. Following this the material is cutted into strips in the next phase. Subsequently,it is crushed strips to make a liquid pulp. Next it is filtered to seperate long fibers from liquid and then the fibres are being soften and added a water and amine oxide. Once the mixture is ready it is then ready to move on to final stage.
Looking at the latter stages, the resulting material is spined. Following its spinned it is transported to the next processing unit where it undergoes to make yarn. After this step, the yarn is woven to make a fabric the nearly finished product is being move to final stage. Finally the fabric is being converted into clothes making a completed product.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the process as having nine stages and give a relevant overview, noting that it begins with bamboo and ends with clothing. Several central steps are also reported accurately, including crushing the strips into pulp, filtering the fibres, and weaving yarn into fabric. However, the account is not fully reliable: it says the process begins with harvesting, omitting the initial planting in spring, and the later stages are confused. In particular, spinning produces yarn; it is not followed by a separate step in which the material is transported to make yarn. The overview also says bamboo is transformed into “woven,” which does not clearly identify fabric. Include the planting stage and describe the sequence and purpose of each later step more precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction and overview followed by paragraphs describing the process. Sequencing expressions such as “Following this,” “Subsequently,” and “Finally” help the reader follow the stages, and the overall progression is mostly clear. This meets the requirement for coherent organisation, while some linking is mechanical or does not accurately connect the ideas. For example, “Once the mixture is ready it is then ready to move on to final stage” repeats “ready” and skips over the spinning and weaving stages. The final paragraph also repeats “Following” and presents the spinning and yarn-making steps confusingly. Group the stages in order and use references such as “the softened fibres” to make each transition clear.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use a reasonable range of process vocabulary, including “harvested,” “strips,” “liquid pulp,” “filtered,” “fibres,” and “woven,” which helps communicate the main transformations. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “culminating” and “processing unit.” However, several word forms, spellings, and collocations are inaccurate: “cutted,” “spined,” “spinned,” “seperate,” and “converted into clothes” weaken precision. “Transported to the next processing unit” is not supported by the diagram and is an awkward way to describe the next stage. Prefer standard process terms and collocations, such as “is cut,” “is spun into yarn,” and “made into clothing,” and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a relative clause in “the process … how fabric is manufactured” and sequencing clauses beginning “Following this” and “Once the mixture is ready.” Meaning is generally recoverable, but grammatical control is uneven. Examples include the missing article in “in process,” the incomplete construction “it is crushed strips,” and the faulty passive forms “the fibres are being soften” and “the nearly finished product is being move.” Agreement and sentence boundaries also need attention: “this linear process consisting of several sequential phase” is not a complete, correctly formed sentence, while “the yarn is woven to make a fabric the nearly finished product…” runs two clauses together. Practise accurate passive forms and complete sentence structures, then proofread articles, agreement, and punctuation.
