Student answer (Band 5.0)
The given process diagram elucidates the mass manufacturing of bamboo fabric . The process joint venture of human machines which work togather for a singal final product .
Overall, it can be seen that mass producation of fabric is carried out by the following more then five distinctive parts . In additionally , the process start plants bamboo and harvest and shirt and socks the final product . Furthermore , all these step is very important and connected with each other .
Talking about initial step , the first step is plants bamboo plants (spring) , then following by harvest ( Autumn) , come then cut into strips, Crush strips ( to make liquide pupl) , Filter ( seprate long fibers from liquide ) . Furthermore , all these prosess complete almost half of the total procdure .
Pouring some light on finalizing product , the final step is very critical to get the final product . The final product is obtained by soften fibers , spin , weave ( to make fabric ) , and the final shirts and socks . Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the diagram as a process and include several accurate stages, such as planting in spring, harvesting in autumn, crushing the strips, filtering the fibres, and weaving fabric. You also provide an overall statement that the process has multiple connected stages. However, the overview is unclear and does not accurately summarise the main transformation from bamboo to finished clothing. The sequence is also incomplete: softening with water and amine oxide is not clearly described, and the final stages are presented as though the shirts and socks are produced directly after weaving. The claim of “mass manufacturing” is not shown in the diagram. To strengthen the response, give a concise overview of the full sequence and describe each stage in its correct order.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs, and it generally moves from early stages to later ones. This gives the reader some sense of the process. However, progression is weakened by unclear or awkward links between ideas. For example, “harvest and shirt and socks the final product” makes the sequence difficult to follow, while “all these process complete almost half” does not clearly connect the listed stages to the diagram. Linking phrases such as “Furthermore,” “Hence,” and “Pouring some light” are used mechanically or do not express the intended relationship. Organise the stages into a clear chronological account, using simple transitions such as “Next,” “After this,” and “Finally,” and ensure each sentence refers clearly to the preceding stage.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant process vocabulary, including “harvest,” “strips,” “crush,” “filter,” “fibers,” “spin,” and “weave,” which helps communicate the general subject. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “elucidates” and “finalizing product,” but several choices are inaccurate or unnatural and sometimes obscure meaning. Examples include “process joint venture of human machines,” “mass producation,” and “Pouring some light on finalizing product.” Spelling errors such as “togather,” “singal,” “liquide,” and “seprate” are noticeable. Aim for precise, natural process language rather than elaborate expressions: for instance, say “the diagram illustrates how bamboo is processed into fabric” and “the final stages”.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, and the response uses sequencing clauses such as “then following by harvest” and “the final product is obtained by…”. However, grammatical control is inconsistent, and errors often make relationships between stages unclear. Examples include “the process start plants bamboo,” “all these step is very important,” and “the final product is obtained by soften fibers,” where verb forms and agreement are faulty. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also uneven, including spaces before full stops and commas. Build reliable simple sentences first, with a clear subject and correctly formed verb—for example, “Bamboo is planted in spring and harvested in autumn.” Then add a small number of accurate complex sentences using “after” or “before” to show sequence.
