Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Write at least 150 words.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The diagram illustrates that step by step process of how bamboo fabric is made from bamboo.

Overall, this process was completed in nine stages, beginning with planting bamboo plants and fabric products like t-shirts and sockes are become as an end product in the final stage.

Initially, the bamboo plants are planted in spring season then, the plants are harvested by using man-power and autumn. In third step, the harvested plants are cut into small pieces using cutter machine called strips. These strips are crushed to make liquid pulp followed by, liquied was filtered to separate long fibers from liquid by using a small equipment in conical shape.

In the next stage, adding water and amine oxide to liquied to get soften fibers. To make yarn from soften fiber by using spinning procedure. The spin was become into fabric by wave method and those fabric are designed into different forms like T-shirts and socks.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You cover the main sequence from planting in spring through harvesting, processing the fibres, spinning and weaving, and you identify clothing as the final output. The overview also correctly notes that the process has nine stages. This is a relevant account of the diagram, but some details are unclear or imprecise: “cut into small pieces using cutter machine called strips” confuses the strips with the cutting machine, and the final stage is described as fabric being “designed into different forms,” whereas the diagram simply shows finished clothing items. The filtering and softening stages are included, though their descriptions could be more precise. To strengthen the response, report each stage accurately and make the overview focus on the progression from growing bamboo to finished garments.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview and two paragraphs describing the stages. The process is generally presented in the correct order, and sequencing expressions such as “Initially,” “In third step” and “In the next stage” help the reader follow it. This coherent arrangement is a strength. However, some links are awkward or mechanically joined, as in “followed by, liquied was filtered,” and the transition from spinning to weaving is difficult to follow because “The spin was become into fabric” does not clearly connect the stages. The overview also combines the starting point and final product in a sentence that is hard to parse. Use complete, clearly linked sentences and consistent stage references to make the progression smoother.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant process vocabulary, including “harvested,” “liquid pulp,” “filtered,” “fibers,” “yarn” and “fabric,” which allows you to describe the main stages. There is also some attempt to use more specific language, such as “amine oxide” and “conical shape.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unclear: “man-power” is not a natural way to describe harvesting, “cutter machine called strips” confuses the tool with the material, and “wave method” is not the correct term for making fabric. Spelling errors such as “sockes” and “liquied” also reduce accuracy. Build a more reliable set of process verbs and technical terms, and check spelling and collocations before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a passive construction in “The bamboo plants are planted” and a sequence joined with “then.” The reader can usually identify the intended stages, but grammatical errors occur in several sentences and sometimes make relationships unclear. For example, “this process was completed in nine stages” shifts unnecessarily to past tense, while “plants are harvested by using man-power and autumn” has a faulty structure. There are also errors in agreement and verb forms in “fabric products … are become” and “The spin was become into fabric.” Improve control of tense, passive forms and sentence boundaries; for instance, use a consistent present tense and make each stage a complete clause. These changes would make your range more effective and accurate.
