Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Write at least 150 words.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The illustration depicts how a bamboo is used to manufacture fabric.

Overall, the bamboo plant goes through a several procedure from its cutting to filteration to finally become a fabric and then used to make cloths.

In its initial stage, the bamboo plant is harvested in spring season. Subsquently, Its been plough out by the farmers in autume. Then the gathered plants being cut out into strips through the machine. Eventually the strips then crushed in to make it in liquid form ''liquid pulp''. The next step involves filteration. In which the long fibres that we get from liquid being separated.

In the sixth step, long fibres then needs to gets soften. Water and amine oxide being used to soften it. It then turn to spin ball to make yarn and in its final step it makes into weave to make fabric out of it. These fabric then use to make cloths, socks and related apparel.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You cover the main stages from planting through processing to finished clothing, and the overview identifies the transformation from bamboo to fabric and garments. However, some details are inaccurate: the diagram shows planting in spring and harvesting in autumn, whereas you reverse these stages by saying the plant is “harvested in spring” and later “plough out” in autumn. The final sequence is also not fully clear: yarn is spun, then woven into fabric, and the finished fabric is used for clothing. Your account includes the key processing steps, but the overview and some stage descriptions need more precise development to represent the process consistently.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and a chronological account of the stages. Sequencing expressions such as “In its initial stage,” “The next step,” and “In the sixth step” help the reader follow the process, and the paragraphing is appropriate. This gives the report a coherent progression. Some links are less smooth, however: “The next step involves filteration. In which…” creates a sentence fragment, while “Eventually the strips then crushed” makes the transition awkward. The overview also repeats the idea of the process becoming fabric without clearly previewing the final clothing stage. Use complete sentences and connect each stage more naturally to strengthen the flow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant process vocabulary, including “strips,” “liquid pulp,” “long fibres,” “amine oxide,” “yarn,” and “weave,” which helps convey the technical stages. There is also some variety in how you describe the sequence. However, several word choices and forms are inaccurate or unnatural, including “filteration,” “plough out,” “turn to spin ball,” and “cloths.” “Fabric” and “clothing” would be more suitable than repeatedly using “cloths,” and “soften” should be expressed as a process applied to the fibres. Spelling errors such as “Subsquently” and “autume” also reduce precision. Aim for accurate process collocations and check spelling, especially for key terms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex forms, including the overview sentence and the explanation of how water and amine oxide are used. The sequence is generally understandable, but errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction are frequent enough to make some sentences awkward. For example, “the bamboo plant is harvested in spring season” gives the wrong stage and also needs an article before “spring season”; “the long fibres that we get from liquid being separated” lacks a finite verb; and “These fabric then use” has problems with number and passive construction. “It then turn to spin ball” also has an unclear subject and verb form. Practise accurate passive structures, which are especially useful for describing manufacturing processes, and proofread each sentence for a complete verb phrase.
