Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Write at least 150 words.

Student answer (Band 5.0)

The given cycle is illustrating that how the fabric is made from the bamboo plant. There are nine steps that includes the making of a fabric from the raw bamboo plant.

Overall this cycle of bamboo fabric is telling how the raw bamboo is converted into the fabric. bamboos are harvested in autumn season .Then they are cuted into the strips .After that we apply we different type of chemicals and techniques to smooth that strips. And this smoothing results in forming a yarn. Yarn is the basic thing for making fabric.Thats how the cycle comes to an end.

Bamboo plant is planted in the spring season and then it is harvested in autumn season. After the cultivation the plant is cuted into vertical strips .Then for the softening of the fibers present between the bamboo strip we use a solution of water and amine oxide and this solution also helps the fiber to be seprated. Next we crush the fibers to make a liquid pulp which result in making yarn.Yarn is the basic building material of the fabric. And when the fabric is formed we make different types of thing from it such like that socks, sweather and

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the process as a sequence from growing bamboo to producing fabric, and you mention the spring planting and autumn harvest. However, the account only partially reports the diagram and includes important stage-order errors. The diagram shows the strips being crushed into liquid pulp before filtering, then the fibres are softened with water and amine oxide; your response places softening before crushing and says the solution helps separate the fibres. You also say the fibres or pulp result in yarn, omitting the distinct spinning stage, and do not clearly describe weaving before the final clothing products. The overview repeats the general idea rather than summarising the main stages accurately. To strengthen the report, give a concise overview and describe each key transformation in the correct order.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is a basic attempt to organise the response into an introduction, an overview and a more detailed account, and sequence markers such as “After that” and “Next” help signal progression. However, the progression is weakened by repetition: the opening and overview both say that bamboo is converted into fabric, while the final paragraph repeats the planting and harvesting stages. Some links are also unclear, particularly “this solution also helps the fiber to be seprated,” which makes the relationship between the stages difficult to follow. The response ends abruptly after “socks, sweather and,” leaving the final point incomplete. Group the stages in order, avoid repeating information, and use clear references to show what each pronoun or process refers to.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant process vocabulary, including “harvested,” “strips,” “solution,” “fibers,” “liquid pulp” and “yarn,” so the reader can recognise the general subject. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or imprecise for this diagram. “Chemicals and techniques” is vague when the diagram specifies water and amine oxide, while “smoothing” does not clearly express softening the fibres. There are also noticeable spelling and word-form errors, such as “cuted,” “seprated” and “sweather,” and informal wording such as “basic thing” and “different types of thing.” Use precise process terms consistently, and check spelling and collocations before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts both simple and longer sentences, including a sequence of clauses beginning “After the cultivation…” and “Then…,” but control is inconsistent. Errors occur in basic sentence construction and agreement: “The given cycle is illustrating that how” has an unnecessary “that,” and “There are nine steps that includes” mismatches the plural subject and verb. Several sentences also have faulty or incomplete structures, such as “And when the fabric is formed we make different types of thing from it such like that socks…” The opening has missing spacing after a full stop, and punctuation is often absent or inconsistent. Aim for complete sentences with one clear main clause, check subject–verb agreement, and use punctuation to separate stages.
