Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the general subject and report several relevant stages, including planting, harvesting, cutting, crushing, filtering, softening, spinning and weaving. However, the account is only partially accurate: the diagram shows planting in spring and harvesting in autumn, but you say the second step is cutting; cutting is actually the third stage. You also describe removing leaves, which is not shown, and call the process ten steps when it has nine. The overview, “cloths is make by bamboo plants,” is too general and does not summarise the main sequence or its transformation from plant material into finished clothing. To strengthen the response, give a concise, accurate overview and report the stages in their correct order, including the final clothing products.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is a basic attempt to organise the process chronologically, with “First” and “Next” helping the reader follow some stages. The response also separates an overview from the process description. However, progression becomes difficult to track because several stages are crowded into long, loosely connected sentences, and transitions such as “moreover,” “otherwise” and repeated “and after” do not clearly show the relationships between steps. The final section repeats weaving and fabric production rather than moving cleanly to the diagram’s endpoint. Use one paragraph for a clear overview and another for the stages, grouped in sequence. Shorter sentences and precise links such as “After crushing,” “The pulp is then filtered,” and “Finally” would make the organisation more coherent.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant process vocabulary, including “strips,” “liquid pulp,” “filter,” “fibres,” “spin,” “yarn” and “weave,” which shows a basic ability to describe the diagram. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the meaning unclear, such as “process give below with drawing,” “convert in tread,” and “make roll.” There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “palnts,” “machinary” and “aftre.” Some terms are repeated rather than varied, especially “make” and “fabric.” Aim for accurate process verbs and standard collocations: for example, say that fibres are softened, spun into yarn, and woven into fabric. Proofreading spelling would also improve clarity.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response mainly uses simple clauses and attempts a few longer sentences to connect stages, but these longer constructions are often difficult to follow. Frequent problems with verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence boundaries affect clarity: “cloths is make,” “It have ten step,” and “they was make cloth” are examples. The opening fragment, “And process give below with drawing,” also lacks a clear grammatical structure, while several sentences begin with lowercase “and” after a full stop. Practise accurate passive forms suited to a process description, such as “The strips are crushed” and “The fibres are softened,” alongside simple present-tense sequencing. Separating each stage into a complete sentence will help you control grammar and punctuation.
