Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Write at least 150 words.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
The picture demonstrates how bamboo fabric is made step by step.
Definitely first of all we need to grow bamboo plants. They grow to the fullest in spring.Autumn season is the best to harvest them, then cut them into strips with machine. The next step is to crush their strips to make liquid pulp. After that filter the liquid, this process helps to seperate long fibres from liquid.
Then comes the next step that is soften the fibres. To soften the fibres we need to add the mixture of water and amine oxide. Now we have soften fibres to make yarn.To get yarn from soften fibres we have to go through the process of spinning. The next step is weave. In this step we make fabrics from yarn.As our fabric is ready we are excited to enter in final step that is to make different items of garments, for exapmle socks or T shirt. So this is the whole process of making fibres from bamboo.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You cover the main sequence from planting and harvesting through processing, spinning, weaving, and producing clothing, and you correctly mention spring, autumn, and the water-and-amine-oxide treatment. However, the response does not clearly present an overview of the process as a whole; it moves directly into the steps and ends with a conversational summary. Some details are inaccurate or imprecise: the diagram shows bamboo being cut into strips but does not specify that a machine is used, and it shows the final garments rather than explicitly describing a separate manufacturing step to make them. The closing sentence also calls this the process of making “fibres,” although the diagram shows fabric and clothing as the end products. A concise overview and closer reporting of the labels would make the account more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The stages are presented in the correct general order, and sequencing phrases such as “After that,” “Then,” and “The next step” help the reader follow the process. This gives the response a coherent overall arrangement. However, the writing is presented as one continuous paragraph, so the overview and detailed stages are not distinguished. Some links feel mechanical or conversational, particularly “Definitely first of all” and “we are excited to enter in final step,” which interrupt the neutral process description. References such as “their strips” are also not fully clear. Organise the response into an overview followed by the stages, and use a smaller, more precise set of linking expressions to improve progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant process vocabulary, including “harvest,” “strips,” “liquid pulp,” “fibres,” “spinning,” and “weave,” which allows you to describe most stages. There is some repetition of “step,” “fibres,” and “make,” and several choices are imprecise or unnatural for a formal process report: “grow to the fullest,” “the best to harvest,” and “enter in final step.” Spelling errors such as “seperate” and “exapmle” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise process language and natural collocations, for example, describe bamboo as being “harvested in autumn” and the fibres as being “softened” before they are spun into yarn. Avoid conversational wording such as “we are excited.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including a purpose clause in “to make liquid pulp” and an explanation of how the fibres are softened. However, errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences awkward or difficult to process. Examples include “Then comes the next step that is soften the fibres,” “Now we have soften fibres,” and “we have to go through the process of spinning,” where verb forms and sentence construction need correction. There are also missing spaces after full stops and commas, and punctuation is inconsistent. Practise accurate passive forms for process descriptions, such as “the strips are crushed” and “the fibres are softened,” and check each sentence for a complete, correctly formed clause.
