The diagram below shows how fabric is manufactured from bamboo.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Write at least 150 words.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The given picture is a flow diagram that explains the complete criteria about how the textile fabric is manufactured from bamboo plant.
First of all, the bamboo is planted in Spring season for its better growth and harvasted in Autumn. Between this era, the bamboo plant grows until reaches its peak to be harvested. Secondly, it is crushed into strips with the help of a cutter machine to get it in smaller pieces.
After this, the smaller pieces of strips are crushed more until its is transformed into liquid pulp and then it is filtered to separete the long fibres from it. Then, water and amine oxide is added in the filtered liquid to make it more soft.
Furthermore, the soften fibres are collected together in order to develop yarn. Moreover, the yarn is tie strongly weaved in such way it is completely transformed into fabric. The yarn can be weaved in different ways to make socks, shirts and many other things.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You cover the main stages from seasonal planting and harvesting through processing the fibres into yarn and fabric, and you identify the final products as clothing. This gives the reader a generally accurate account of the process. However, some details are unclear or misreported: the diagram shows bamboo being cut into strips before the strips are crushed, whereas you say it is “crushed into strips.” The overview is also implicit rather than clearly stated, and the explanation of growth between spring and autumn adds an unsupported claim that the plant reaches its “peak.” To strengthen the response, give a concise overview of the process’s progression from cultivation to finished garments, then describe each stage in the correct order with only details shown in the diagram.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The response is organised into clear paragraphs and follows the process in a broadly logical sequence. Linking expressions such as “First of all,” “After this,” “Then,” and “Furthermore” help signal progression, and the reader can follow the movement from growing bamboo to making fabric. The final sentence also connects the fabric stage to its uses. Some transitions are slightly mechanical, and “Between this era” is an unclear reference that interrupts the flow. The second paragraph also combines cutting and crushing in a way that makes the sequence harder to follow. For stronger progression, use a clear overview followed by stages grouped in order, and use precise references such as “the bamboo” or “the resulting fibres.”
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant process vocabulary, including “harvested,” “liquid pulp,” “filtered,” “fibres,” “yarn,” and “fabric,” which helps communicate the stages. There is also some attempt at more specific language, such as “amine oxide.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward: “complete criteria” does not describe a process, “crushed into strips” confuses cutting with crushing, and “tie strongly weaved” is not a natural description of weaving. Spelling errors such as “harvasted” and “separete” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise verbs that match each stage and check spelling and word forms; this will make the description clearer and more natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mixture of simple and more complex sentences, including a time clause in “until reaches its peak to be harvested” and a purpose clause in “in order to develop yarn.” The overall meaning is usually understandable, but some grammatical errors affect clarity. For example, “until reaches” lacks a clear subject, “its is transformed” has an incorrect pronoun and verb form, and “water and amine oxide is added” has subject–verb disagreement. The sentence beginning “Moreover” also has an unclear construction around “is tie strongly weaved.” Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, pronoun reference, and passive forms, especially when describing stages: for example, “The fibres are softened by adding water and amine oxide.”
